Adding a Debit Card

This morning, right after I picked up a Debit card from my bank, I tried to add it to my PayPal so that i can withdraw my money to my Debit Card. Surprisingly, I got a denial message saying that my bank does not allow the card to be used.
So, I called up the bank to check whether my card is active or not and the bank confirmed that my card is active and can be used. Then, I searched the web for anyone who had try adding the same card to PayPal and most of the articles mentioned about their successes. I found a few people having the same problem but no clear answer so far. So, I wrote to few people asking them how they managed to add their card to PayPal.
At the same time, I wrote to PayPal support and asked them whether they could advise me anything on the problem that I was facing. While waiting for answers and reply from PayPal, I suddenly remember that the card must have RM 25 to stay active and my have more than RM 25 to be made available for use. Duhh... I should have known that!
Unfortunately, I still could not transfer any money from my Savings to the card since the card will only go online later in the evening and I have no time to go to the bank to do a deposit at the ATM. So, I had to wait anxiously hoping that the amount of money in the card is the culprit.
At 6:30 pm I logged on to my account and saw the Debit card was already online. I transferred RM 25 to the card and went over to PayPal to try adding the card again. Guess what? This time it worked! It was the balance of money that was insufficient for any transaction as the card must have at least RM 25.01 in order to be used and RM 25 balance must be maintained at all time.
I am so happy now and my next thing to do is to withdraw some money to that card and see whether it really works or not.
For your information, I am from Malaysia and PayPal has only recently allow members from Malaysia to withdraw fund into our Credit or Debit cards but based on some other people experiences, only selected cards from selected banks would work and the Debit card that I got is one of them that should work.
1 USD is approximately 3.50 RM

you cant add the bank card number... you need your transit number, branch number of the bank and the account number to attach that account onto paypal...

debit card and bank card is the same thing.. its a peice of plastic from that bank... i havent seen anywhere on there that you can add the number that is on the plastic card... its the numbers of your account branch and transit numbers to add the account so that it is placed in that account so that you can access it on your plastic card

For your information, the debit card comes with the Visa logo as such it carries a set of numbers that is similar to a credit card and you enter it under the Add a card section at PayPal. By the way, I have managed to add that and even get my expanded use number verified. Cheers!

Thank you for the information, now we know what it takes. It works like that here but with a little less fanfare. You dont actually have to have anymore that 3.00 on your account to get the debit card to work and my friend got hers to work before she even added money to her account. But I think they have an agreement with Washington Mutual.
