My 7 year old daughter is a very fussy eater. My mom always said when a kid is hungry they will eat but its what she eats. She always only has plain rice with cheese on top and the same with potatoes and pasta, i can 't get her to try new things she just starts crying and freaking out. She doesn't eat meat unless its chicken nuggets and hot dogs. She use to but now she refuses to. I have tried rewarding her and tricking her and she wil not dip things. She eats lettuce cheese and mayo sandwiches and that is it...I feel really bad that she won't try new things...Are most 7 year olds like this? trying to get my child to eat

I never had issues with either of my kids as far as any vegetables besides potatoes, and the only way they would eat brocolli was with cheese on it. They both loved salads and still do, and they can go through a 10 pound bag of apples in 3 days. That was not something I intended, but they like apples and they're good for them, so I figured it was better than than a bag of cookies.

My oldest was a very fussy eater when he was younger, but he never freaked out or started crying when I tried to get him to taste new things. Eventually he outgrew it, thanks in part to the wonderfull cook at the school he attended. All she asked was kids at least take one bite. If they didn't like it, fine, but at least try it. She got him to like Goulash of all things, when I never could. Then I got told, Mrs. Bartles is better!!! He too would not eat bread. We would go to McDonalds and he would want a hamburger plain and french fries. then he would eat the meat, but not the bun. To this day though, and he's nearly 19, he only eats potatoes 3 ways, as potato chips, french fries or fried potatoes. Funny thing though, when his little brother was old enough and we went to mcdonalds, he wouldn't eat meat, but liked the bread, so it worked pretty good. Give her time, hopefully she'll grow out of it, but continue to offer her new things, maybe you'll discover other things she likes.

My son is only 4 and he is such a picky eater. He only likes Chicken nuggets and pizza! I try my best to be creative and introduce him to new foods. We don't force him to eat but he is very curious so when we eat my hubby and I make lots of yummy noises and he and his sister will ask if they can try it!! It works every time and he is SLOWLY learning to like new foods! He found out last night that he loves meatloaf!!! Just keep trying and yes when they are hungry enough they will eat! my son did!

YES@ my daughter at that age was a horrible eater as well, she hated bread (which is hard when she takes her lunch everyday!) i would suggest not to make a big deal out of it. does she like fruit? why not try that? as long as she is getting her vitamins, i wouldnt worry about it.

Well she likes some fruits...she HATES apples but like bananas and oranges sometimes....it all depends on her mood i guess for her fruits, she likes alot of veggies, celery carrots, brocilli, but can be fussy some times with them as well...plus i give her a vitamin as well just to make sure she is getting everything she needs an added bonus she loves milk...

I was always an EXCEPTIONALLY picky eater. I still am at 30+ yrs old. As long as she's getting the nutrition she needs, I wouldn't worry about *what* foods she's getting it from. My mom always thought I'd be getting "bored" of what I ate, but I didn't. I like(d) what I like(d). Works out fine for me.

Have you tried getting your daughter to buy the food and cook it her self under your supervision of course. My daughter is only 2 but i find if she as a say and a helping hand with the meal she is more likely to eat it.

My grandkids are extremely fussy eaters too. They're getting better now but they're almost 11 and 13. Angela, who is going to be 11 is the worse, she's pretty close to a vegetarian except she doesn't eat many vegetables other than corn and potatoes. She loves spaghetti and pizza though and she like most fruits. Todd has improved quite a bit but he used to be worse than his sister! Since your daughter does eat most fruits and vegetables and she likes milk, I wouldn't worry too much. Keep trying to get her to try new things and little by little she will. Annie

This 7 yr old daughter is your only child, am I right? Shes a bit spoiled thats all. OK try this with her. No snacks between meals. Let her eat what she wants at mealtimes when everybody else is eating. When your done so is she. Cut the size of her portions down. She will soon get hungry. Tell her she must wait till the next meal to eat. If she crys you will have to ignore her. Next meal let her have a small portion of what she wants and let her know she can have some of what your eating too. If she refuses to eat anything else make her wait till the next meal. Keep cutting her portions down until she begins to aquire a taste for what you are eating. Soon the battle will be over and you will have a daughter who will eat what you are eating.

Actually she isn't an only child, she has an older sister and a younger sister. I think it is just a stage because her older sister was the same way and she got over it. so i don't think i will starve her its not like she is losing weight or unhealthy

My child was just like that. You can only do the best you can.Just make sure she gets her vitamins. At least with adding vitamins you don't have to worry as much about her getting the right nutrition.

My elder sister's daughter was ever a fussy eater as well, when she was 6 years old and eat only Hamburger and chicken. Her parents worried about her malnutrition and health. As drawing is her favorite hobby, my sister tried to play assorted food games with her and let her eat it as a winner player. Now she is eating fish, beef and most of vegatables and fruits.
