Sometimes during the course of the day I might have to take an aspirin or ibuprofen......I just pop it in my mouth and swallow. I have a friend however that needs at least a glass of water or beverage to swallow a pill! Do you need something to down the pill or can you do it without anything to drink?

This is a question of my interest.I ,for that matter we watch with awe when people take the tablets without water in the English movies. Because not even a single soul here takes tablet without a glass of water. It is one of the most impossible thing for us.It is strange indeed ,all these habits.

I definitely need something to drink when I swallow a pill no matter how small. I can swallow a handful of pills if I have a drink, but it never fails that every single time I have ever tried to take a pill without a drink it gets caught in my throat.
My husband swallows pills with no drink all the time though. He laughs everytime because I stare at him in amazement that it doesn't get caught for him. :)

I can of course gulp it down without water but I don’t do it and I thnk nobody should either. Water not only facilitates the passage of the pill down our oesophagus, it also helps the medicine digest better so we have less acidity and resulting reflux. I always take my medicines with plenty of water.

I can take some even without any aid of water, as long as they don't have those nasty after-tastes!;) I take some ascorbic acids, with or without water. I just pop them inside my mouth and then swallow, but it's good if there's water..

When I was a child I marveled that my dad could just swallow a tylenol with no liquid when he had a headache. I've tried to do that and it just gets stuck in my throat. Therefore, I always wait until I have something to drink before I take any medication.

hi jill! ^__^
wow. i can't do that. i mean, swallow a pill without water or anything to push it down inside. ~.~ i don't like the taste and smell of most pills so i can't take them just as they are. ^__^;; i have to have water at least and if the pill has a strong smell and taste, i might need a flavored drink to prevent myself from vomitting. ^__^

drinking water with a pill will allow to dissolve it faster than without it. so for quick relief water is important.it will also facilitate the pill to move down the throat rather than stucking.

I usually take pills with at least a sip of a drink. I can take them without water and I have many times. When I was a kid I could not swallow pills for the longest time. I would practice with a tic tac or something similar in size. I could swallow the tic tac, but could not choke down the pill. Then magically one day I could swallow pills.
