Do you wave back?

If someone waves will you wave back? I generally do, even though it's not always meant for me, lol. My distance vision isn't so good, so I can't always make out who it is if they're in the distance, so I usually wave back in case it's someone I know. Occasionally I have been embarrassed when the wave was for someone near me, but I'd rather wave back than not acknowledge the greeting. What do you do?

I do just because I live in the country and everyone waves at everyone!

Hi SachseMom! I've noticed and always wondered about that. I always wondered if people were checking out who was driving thru their neighborhood or just being friendly, but I always wave back then too. :)

If i dont know who the waver is, then i dont wave back.. I know that might be mean, but i dont have good distance vision either, and i'd rather say later on omg i didn't see you then have the person waving to the person behind me and i wave lol. That would embarrass me beyond believe lol.
But if i dont wave back and i see the person later and they said HEY i waved to you the other day and you didnt' wave back, i can just say oh CRUD! I didn't see you i'm FREAKING BLIND MAN! ;)

I'll usually wave, too. After all, I'm one of those friendly Canadians. ;o)
This summer, I went on a horse-drawn wagon ride through city streets as part of a local festival, and people were watching us as we went by, so I started waving (like the Queen) and people started waving back. At the very least, it put a smile on their faces.

I generally do. I think that whenever someone goes out of their way to be friendly, we should at least return the favor. I do feel a little put out when I talk to someone and they don't talk to me, but hey I'm a big boy...I can take a little rejection.

LOL, kids on the bus are always waving. Even when I'd be stuck behind one on my way home I'd wave back. :)

I wave and smile, then duck and turn red if it turns out not to be for me. That happens to me quite often.

LOL. If it wasn't meant for you, it was probably a stranger so they'll never know your embarassment beyond that moment. If it was a friend, then they should be the one to return your wave. :)

Normally I don't.
I'll either smile or say "Hi" if I can. I do sometimes wave, but I'm not really into doing it, unless it's my son. I hate waving most of the time because it looks silly. least to myself, others like fine.

I always do. Im sure I have made a million people wonder what I am waving at but I figure it is always good to spread a little nice around. The world could use a lot more nice. I wave at every car that drives by my house when I am out side.

I, for one, always wave back. I am a happy person and I always go out of my way to get a smile on someone elses' face. My son and I used to wave at everyone we passed on the way to school in the morning. You would be surprised at the reactions we would get from people. Most people would wave back. Some would ignore the wave. I think it is a good idea to wave at people. One person, a few years ago, came up to me at the grocery store. They said they had been watching my son and I passed by her every morning with a smile on our faces and a wave. She then proceeded to tell me she had been in a very deep depression for several months and had considered taking her own life. But seeing us every morning changed her mind. You see you never what trail you leave behind you as you pass by. Smile!!!!

Hello and welcome to MyLot miss_elt. This is very true. I'd much rather leave a positive trail than a negative one. :)

If i am not feeling too shy i will and do for the most part . sometimes when i am in a crowd i will see someone wave and not know if they are waving to me . Sometimes, i just will feel silly because i waved and it wasnt meant for me . If i know for sure they are waving i will wave back.

I usually smile, because sometimes I'm not sure if they are waving at me or maybe at someone behind me.

OH yeah. I wave back. ANd yes I've found myself a bit embarrassed a few times when the original wave was not for me, but hey, like you say better than to not wave and find out it was for us after all:)

I really do not wave back unless I'm sure that I know the person. It's really embarrassing to wave back when the wave wasn't for you in the first place. I'm really a snobbish person and a friend who really knows me and had his or her wave not returned would surely understand.
