Do you know your neighbors?

I bought an apartment last year. The front door is only 1 meter far from my neighbor's but we never visit each other till now. As a scheduled worker, I lives orderly and go to office at 8 o'clock in the morning and come back arround 7 at night. Last Monday, I encountered a man when I prepared to open my front door. He saw me and nodded, then put out a key then I knew he was my neighbor. I smiled and said hello to him. He is somewhat desolate and reply me hello then went into his house. Since there is not any touchs between my neighbor and me over one year, I don't know if it is worth for me to pay a visit to them. Do you meet these kind of problem and if there is anybody on Mylot who don't know your neighbors as well?
