This afternoon I gave all my coins to a beggar while I was on the way to have lunch at the mall and by the time I got back, I found her sleeping right where she was when I passed by. Should I beat her up for being lazy? LOL!

Someone else had mentioned that what they need is to get back on the road to gainful employment.Sometimes people are unable to work entirely.Like myself,I suffer from medical issues that prevent me from being able to keep a job yet I cannot get any disability from the government even though Im supposed to qualify. What do people like myself do?We take to the streets because sometimes we have nowhere else to go my friend. Its not always so simple. In fact most people ive met on the streets arent a simple case of getting a job. Many have mental illness that prevents them from working and since theyre not working they cant afford medical care. The free clinics arent free. Its 20 dollars a visit in my area plus medicine costs which are anywhere from a few bucks to as much as sixty bucks depending on whats needed.15 or 20 is a fairly average med cost. What hobo is going to afford 35 to 40 dollars on his own plus 15 or 20 bucks a months for meds.Others have deeper problems that stem from abuse or just disassociation from society due to experiences and the list goes on.Many people have many different problems and saying heres a job isnt going to help most of them and its taking an easy way out and turning a blind eye to the real issues.

Once in awhile I give them money, but I usually don't. Why? Because I believe in helping people, and there is nothing helpful about handing a person a few dollars. Sure, it might make us feel like we're being charitable... but charity is only a good thing if it is done for the good of the recipient. What do I do to help? Well, I used to live, eat and breath service, but I can't anymore... so now I volunteer a little, but mostly donate money and needed items to organizations that actually do help people. Handing a person a few dollars might put a smile on their face, but smiles aren't what they need.
