Spirited kids

Any parents out there dealing with children who are very spirited? I have 3 boys, two are quite active and like to discuss the issues instead of just doing what I tell tham to do! Please share any techniques you have for remaining patient and loving while enforcing house rules!

children of this generation are not like previous generations.They ask reasons for everything.So I gave them what they want even if i have to lecture to them in ways they can understand

They are so much more inquisitive and I believe in sharing my thought process and reasoning sometimes. I simply do not believe they need to know why for everything!!

My oldest boy and youngest daughter are very spirited and I have a heard time dealing with them sometimes. I have learned to try to be as patient as possible. My oldest boy and I have to work on a compromise or else he is sent to his room. My youngest daughter is still too young to send to her room but she gets toys taken away from her for acting out.

Patience can be so difficult! Compromise on the not-so-important issues is something we need to implement. I reach the point where my answer is "NO, because I said so!"
