Have you guys ever wondered how did umpires managed their decisions before the third umpire was introduced? Its unimaginable - isnt it!!
Then players used to respect the umpires decision and walk off the field as soon as they were given out. But today, players insist on watching replays and standing their ground even after the umpire had given his decision.
What i want to ask is wether the introduction of technology the players trust and respect on the umpires has decreased?
Is the cricket world today so dependant on technology?
One can argue that development of tv-umpire has reduced errors in judgement and reduced the pressure of the umpires, but on the other hand with the increase of use of technology, the length of the game will increase and the human element will decrease.
What is your opinion??

I'd say technology is both a boon and a bane for the obvious reason that it has both advantages and disadvantages. On the other hand, one thing human beings are known for is the ability to adapt to situations, so with or without technology, ther will always be ways to go about things, either positively or negatively. Correct me if I'm wrong.

No my friend u are absolutely right. Man has learnt to adapt to situations and evolve. But dont you think that technology is here to help and its upto us to use this technology ina positive manner, because i think that its here to stay and as human being is evolving so is technology. what do you say?

Hello, pratz!even to day we depend mostly on the field umpires .in case of doubt the field umpire refer the case to the third umpire.but it is also not free from doubt as evident from the decision of the third umpire on wednesday in the case of stump out claimed by Dhoni in case of Symonds who was adjudged not out.before, the field umpire had made a blunder by giving not out decision which was the turning point of the match.what is the use of this technology if it fails to do justice.it is only the players' character can change.it is he knows whether he is out or not.the players should play the match in the true sportsmen spirit and justify that cricket is yet a game of gentlemen.however,i must say that the technology which is in practice today needs a close study.thank you.good day.

I agree to what you have said my friend. But according to me the "game of the gentelmen" is gone. Todays cricket is played by a bunch of ruthless, ambitious cricketers who wouldn't mind going that extra mile to win. in todays cricket only skill is not enough, u have to have the right attitude. And then lets not forget every bad performance brings a cricketer close to be thrown out of the team.
But you are right when you say that todays technology needs some revising to do. I hope ICC does something about it and fast.
