My 10 yr old son wants a tattoo when he get older. I told him I don't mind. So I made him a deal I told him when he graduates high school I would buy him one. He was excited and said no problem. Then he asks me when he graduates college if I would buy him another one. Of course I said yes. What are your thoughts?

I dont see any harm in agreeing with that. He might not even want one by the time he graduates highschool. lol. Or sorry to say he might already have one before he does graduate, unfortunitly there are some dumb tattoo artists and shops out there that put ink on minors bodies. I think that if you want to get a tattoo you should be old enough to realize that its with you your entire life, and you must pick something that you really want and/or can stand to look at for the rest of it!
I hope that he waits untill after highschool, and i hope he picks something that you can both agree on and like. I have a few tattoo's and i did a few myself with i was in highschool. Silly me, so i knnow what i'm talking about from experience. Geez. this is the second discussion today that i've had to say i wish i'd listened to my mother lol.

alot of parents would of freaked out when their kid asked that i told my daughter if she worked hard in school she cand get he nose pierced when she is 16 its great that some parents are raising their kids in such a manner that they can come to them to discuss this stuff instead of sneaking out and doing it

Awesome. But be careful, some can be really pricey...and by the time he graduates college he can probably afford his own. Also...maybe on the first tattoo, make him think about it...tell him to start thinking of one now, and then see how many times it changes before he graduates. He's pretty young, still, so it'll probably change a lot...
Right on, though, I think tattoos are great. My mom gave me my first one when I was 12, just a tiny ankle tattoo. Piercings are better for teens because it lets them express themselves and you can always take them out and let em heal...and they're cheaper. :)

Although, it's just a mark of expression, one needs to be wary as a tattoo in a very exposed part of the body(like the face) can prevent someone from getting ahead in business later in life. It's okay for these celebrities to have them exposed as they don't to find a "real" job.
A lot of companies will not let them be exposed at all.
I visit a local starbucks and one of the guys has a tattoo on his leg, which he is not allowed to show. When he wears shorts he has to cover it with some kind of bandage. JAT.

I think you made a good deal... he is only 10 at the moment so has enough time to either decide that he really wants one (as it is something that is always going to be there) or change his mind and decide he no longer wants one.
I think I would probably have said the same thing - or something very similar anyway... at least he is happy with the deal.

My son is the same way. I told him when he was old enough I would take him toget one. I believe in our stat eyou can be as young as 16 and get one with parental consent. I have 2 myself, my exhusband has a few, so I don't see it as a big deal.

That sounds like a good deal to me. Plenty of time for him to make up his mind if he really wants one and if so what kind. As long as people are sure what tattoos they want and won't regret it later, I see no problems with tattoos. I can imagine it's harder for some teenagers to make up their mind on something they're willing to keep the rest of their lives though, but there are some that just know what they want.

I think thats great and really reasonable. This way he has something to work twords other then a better education. I wish my mom had done something like that for me, but thats ok I saved up my own money for my tattoo. But yes very good idea!
