I was just wondering if there are many people out there who had a friend they lost contact with and still wish they could find them somehow? Also if you have a story about finding a long lost friend - I would love to hear them. I had a friend in primary school who was a really good friend but her family moved away and we lost contact - I still think of her every now and then, wonder where she is now, what she has done with her life etc... even wonder if she still remembers me?? It would be great if one day I could meet up with her again!!

I have found some long lost friends, and also long lost family. The story on my family is kind of interesting. I lost contact with all of my family on both my mother and my fathers side. I hadn't seen my mom in about 6 years, I had only heard things, and had no luck with finding her on the internet. years went by and I had a child that I wished I could introduce to her grandmother. I was going through really emotional times, quit my job of 3 years and did some temporary work in an old factory mailing out orders for skin care products. My coworkers and I, to pass the time, would announce interesting last names that were on order sheets and laugh at the funny ones. One day a coworker said "ha look at this name, it's hilarious...how do even pronounce it?!?" When I looked to see what the name was it was "Etchebarren". Which is my mothers maiden name, and I've never met anyone with that last name besides my mothers family. And the address was in my mothers home town. I put a note in the box of lotion that was being sent asking if they knew my mother, and giving my email address, phone number, name etc. About 3weeks later I recieved an email and it turned out that it was my uncles ex-wife and she, did, in fact, know where my mother was. So I got back into contact with her, and now my daughter has a face to connect with Grandma. Also, I still haven't found my brothers who apparently live in the same state as I do. :( I didn't organize this story very well, wasn't very descriptive either, but I'm at work so I don't realy have the time to be creative.

I have a few friends that I have lost contact with over the years. I recently got back in touch with a friend of mine that lives in Austrilia (I'm in the US) through Facebook of all places. We were exchange students in Bolivia years ago. That was pretty neat. I also reconnected with old friends through LinkedIn and a highschool alumni site. One person just found me by searching my name on the internet and got my work email address at the time. That was before personal websites/social sites were popular.

Hey, I hope you would meet her again. Anyways, I had a friend way back in elementary the thing is, she was one of the nicest persons I have known back then, we shared the same birthday. We were never really that close, but I have considered her one of my good friends because she was one of my classmates way back in Kinder. After elementary, we never really had contact, until, one night, while malling, we bumped into each other. I have learned that she got married and we got each other's cell numbers, up to now we still do communicate. :) I had another friend in HS. He was kicked out when we were still in second year, and the only time he wrote me was on our 3rd and 4th year -- only two letters. Anyways, I thought I will never ever see him again. Then, while I was about to enrol in college in this university. I saw a guy walking around the park, he kina looked familiar. I just stared at him, and he stared back. Then he went pass through me... then he came back, and later on we both realized that we knew each other. :D Another story was my HS best friend. After graduation, we never saw each other but we wrote each other. I have stopped writing until 2nd sem. From then on I have not heard from year. Then 2006, she messaged me thru my friendster, and I gave her my number and we texted each other. We exchanged IMs and e-mails. Then last December, I got the chance to see her. :) She never has changed, and she still is my best friend. :D

You have been very lucky to find the friends you lost contact with. That is fantastic... Even better that you have remained friends since finding each other again.

My bestfriend when I was in the third grade moved to the US because her dad was working there. She managed to send me a letter but I was not even able to reply. Back in the early 90's there was no such thing as internet communication for ordinary people so eventually, we lost contact. I saw her sister having a Friendster account but she rarely logs in. I hope to keep in touch with her, maybe say Hi. But maybe we can never be like the way we used to be before. Although I am happy wherever she is now and whatever is happening to her life.

The friend I was talking about was also my best friend in grade 3... although she just moved interstate. I just hope for her that she is happy... although it would still be nice to say Hi to her again

I met up with a few of my old friends thru classmates.com. I got the free trial membership and left messages with my email addy to all the friends I wanted to contact then cancelled the membership the same day. Also I found one on myspace thru her brother's page. The friends from grade school are tougher because i remember less about them so I probably won't be able to find them again. But,I don't give up hope.

Its funny that you say that - I just found a friend from school (who I have not seen since we finished school) through facebook. It is great that there are these types of sites out there now, but unfortunatley not always can you find the person / people you are looking for. That is fantastic though that you have found some of your friends.

I have some friends whom I have not been in communication with for quite sometime now. Some of them for many, many years. Just like you, I would love to hear from them sometime. I try to search for them from the internet every now and then, but I can't find them either. I guess they too have been busy with their own lives. Maybe in the future, I would still get the chance to see them again. Maybe in the future.

I know what you mean - I have also tried to search for them... but with females it is harder because if they get married they usually take his last name which makes it harder to find them.

Great topic, I actually caught up with long lost friends of mine two weeks ago. I have not seen them for 20 years. They were my neighours and we used to play together everyday, I was nine at the time. Anyway is all thanks to www.facebook.com, I did a friend search for her on there and found her. I could not believe I have located quite a few lost friends on this site. You will be surprised how many people are on there. Give it a try if you haven't already, you never know. Otherwise check out myspace. Keep me updated if you do get back in contact with her. It is a great feeling getting back in contact with old friends reminiscing about the past.
