So, lets say you are at a co - workers house. Hanging out, drinking beers, or whatever you want to insert here. The co - worker and his/hers S.O. started fighting in another room. It becomes clear that the co worker or the S.O. are becoming increasing more violent towards each other, and you come to the realization somebody is getting hurt. What do you do?
Does your answer change if you own the company the co worker is employed at

If it got to the point where violence was about to happen, then I would get out of the house and use my cellphone to call the police. It sounds extreme to do this, but what you're describing is extreme as well. My answer would not change if I owned the company.

Make the announcement that you are going to have to leave. That should bring a momentary lull in the hostilities and by the time you get your coat and go the door they most often have settled down enough that they can try to solve the issue more calmly. If this happens more than once, you should find other people to hang out with.

Call the cops and do what I can to stop them from hurting one another. Especially if it is a one-sided attack, I won't stand for that. If I owned the company knowing that the attacker did such a thing I would probably hope the victim pressed charges so I could have a good reason for firing them. If you it were the victim that worked for me then, after assessing the damage, I may ask them if they need a day off.

I think you excuse yourself and then call the police. If I am an owner I don't discipline the person. As long as they leave their baggage at home there's no reason too. I would maybe offer advice when tensions cool down. They would obviously be embarrassed so it may be a delicate subject for awhile.
