For me it was the book by Dave Pelzer entitled A Child Called It, it was such a powerful, emotive book that got me wondering, why was I so angry at the way my life has turned out, when this boy was cruelly tortured and abused by his very own MOTHER! It was a horrific story that a mother could do it to her own flesh and blood, it really made you think and it certainly put your own problems into a great prospective! I did a discussion on a Child Called It but sadly no one responded. I'm sure it is more popular and a lot of people have read it. Dave Pelzer has also gone on to write other books which challenge your life and how you can come from a life of misery to being a complete success in life, very profound, very powerful.

I have read a whole lot of life changing self-help books. But, I think that the number one life altering book is still the word of God. There is a version of the Bible written by Bishop T.D. Jakes. His ministry is to women. The extra things that he has written in this Bible has made me a new, more confidant woman in Christ. Every Christian woman should own a copy.

With no disrespect to you cheesehater, what she meant is she got the Woman thou art Loosed Bible; It doesn't deviate from the word, but like some bibles, this one has sections that deal with certain women in the Bible in that particular section, or certain situations relevent for women. I understand your feelings, I would not care for no one deviating out of the Word, sadly it is being done.

For me, I started to change my life when I read Chicken Soup For The soul. I then continue to read almost the whole edition. This book inspire me and mostly makes me stronger. Especially when I read Chicken Soup for the soul at work. I changed my attitude at work, I become more emphatic to other people and especially learn to love my job and every task I have. The book inspire me that I can change my way if I change myself first.

Yes. One is excuse me your life is waiting. I was going through an exteremly bad break up and was struggling with depression. The author has a no nonsense tone in the book that really inspired me to get back up on my own two feet.
Another would be "the secret" I have been underprivileged my whole life, and would wonder "how do some people have all the luck?" This book is amazing. It talks about the law of attraction, and how to use positive thinking over negative thinking.
Another would be "love eat pray" The author goes through a bad divorce and travels to several different countries looking for herself, and god. The witting is beautiful, and it makes me a little jealous I cant travel like that.
