Hi sweetkim. In my opinion, the "best area" would be defined by what interests you. If you thrive on the crazy, upbeat and fast paced, then I'd say ER or ICU, or even PACU would be your best bet. If you like it a little slower and more routine, then you have the wards like MS, Ortho, Renal. In between you have Telemetry and Intermediate or step-downs If you like it even slower, there's your clinical admitting, and mother-baby Personally I love Telemetry. It's always exciting but not too much! I worked Ortho before and after a while, it got to be routine. I also hoped for OR but after the first 15 minutes of a Cardiac Bypass, I got bored. But that's just me. As I said, your interest and passion should dictate which area you will enjoy working in.

hi there, i's graduating this april and hopefully take the local board this june. your question is the same question pondering in my head right now. but i guess the best way to start is to be a ward nurse. Being a ward nurse is the essence of being a nurse for me, its what nurses are really meant to do since way back. When you gain experience and skills and then you can decide to a choose a special field to open new doors and new experiences for you and not make you feel burned out.

Hi friend, it is definitely staff nurse, if it is to be nurse. But now a days most of the pepole want to be doctors and there are lot of aspirants for management posts also. Nobody wants to be a noble nurse.

i think the best area of specialization as a staff nurse would be the ER. you get to increase your skills because everything is in there. youll never know whats the next case when an ambulance pops up. plus, you dont have to dael with patients as much time as on wards because you should admit the client and bring them to their designated rooms or area. plus ER nurses are paid well in the united states. oh well this is jus a personal opinion. but all in all it really depends on the area of your interest. if you like children or baby u might love to be assigned on pedia ward or at the nursery. right?

First and for most, i am still a new nurse just graduated 2007, passed the Philippines board of nursing on June in the same year. I am currently employed at Chong Hua Hospital Cebu. and i am a staff nurse. For me, the nurses assigned in the special areas are the ones that really uses most of their unique abilities and critical thinking skills in the OR, DR and in the ICU but nurses in the Floor or Wards are usually the ones who let the patients recover to full health and it is a challenge for the staff nurses to still have the clinical eye and critical thinking skills.. so whether you are a staff nurse or a special area nurse you must still have the knowledge, sill and attitude to become a nurse by heart.

Nursing is very interesting profession. This profession is based on the services of miserable humanity. The place where we can give our best of the services is better in a hospital. Such as the ward of cardiology or ward of cancer in a hospital. Job of a nurse is as sacred as that of the pray of God. God loves those, who love his creature. And job of a nurse to looks after and also care taker the creature of the God. It is a great job which does not care the place where a nurse performs her or his duties. A nurse is health care provider and this title is honorable to his or her personality.
