I hate to admit that I agree with you. I love them so yet over the past 5 years ish a lot of their stuff has been very similar. Though that doesn't mean there hasn't been some songs remarkably better than others. I'm still a fan anywho. They're classic, and can get away with a lot in my opinion.

that's their genre. the slapping, riffs and rapping, without these RHCP is not RHCP.

There music has changed a lot, but I will say that since John rejoined the group, they have had a similar sound on every album. They're getting pretty old, though. I mean, how many times can a band keep putting out totally original albums. Honestly, I'm surprised that they're still pumping out new albums every couple of years. Song writing is difficult; it can take a lot out of a person or group.

Like many artists the rhcp have gone through phases which is probably a good thing but it seems to me that each phase has it's repetitiveness. Whether or not this is a problem is entirely debatable of course. You could say all the songs on an album sounding similar could show that they have thought about the style they are going for and kept to their decision. This can make an album as a piece of work flow better than a load of varied style songs thrown together on a disc.

The changes between Californication and Stadium Arcadium alone are pretty vast. But in all honesty, sometimes not changing a good thing isn't necessarily wrong. Each of the musicians in the Red Hot Chili Peppers is incredibly talented, and have their own preferred styles of playing. If they were to deviate from that style then they run the risk of releasing awful material. I'll just take more of the same goodness.

Hmmm... well, if you ask me their music has something particular but I don't see many of their songs resembling another. I mean... they are all unique. And the fact that their music has not changed over the years should be a good thing... they are keeping and protecting their style, not singing something just for selling it. ;)

Hi radioactivechip
At first hearing of one of their album it can seem that their song are all the same (above all for a non-english speaker who doesn't understand all the lyrics), but IMHO if you listen carefully and hear the lyrics each song is unique

Been an RHCP fan since they released their Blood Sugar S3x Magik album. Their music change but its for the better. RHCP music is unique. It's like bridging rap and rock together.
