Here's a Quirky Question for Ya!

The question is about the eyes and conversation. I once read that when we look into a person's eyes when we are talking to them, that we look at the left eye. Now, I can't remember where I read it or how true it is, but I find that is exactly what I do.
Which eye do you look into when you are conversing with a person? What if they had a prosthetic eye?
A guy I knew many years back told me that people often looked into his prosthetic eye, which was on the left, when they spoke to him. He said he felt like telling them that it was fake. It bothered him when people didn't look into the eye that was real.

I am a very sensitive person who has a tendency to worry. Right now, I am concerned that my stomach sticks out, there is a roll of fat above my waist line and you want to know what eye I stare in when I am talking to someone. I am a leftie. I have no idea, is it his left eye, or the left eye as I see facing him? And wouldn't I be facing his face directly? You see, if I looked into someone's eye, I would not be in front of him, I would be to one side. And if I had to worry about that, I would sit down in a corner and read a book because I would be afraid to make a move.

eyes play a crucial roles in understanding what the people r conveying to us .whther its true or its false just make us happy at the moment.if he expand his eyes while talking to u then he is intersted to talk .if they r half closed then he is not interested.if he comes in stress while talking he blinks constricts his eyes atthe corners

I didn,t know about that but when you say that and when I think of it next time ,I will automatically be looking to their left eye
But yeah, there are a lot of peolpe who study people's behavioural patterns and their characteristics by looking into their eyes only.As they say eyes can tell the whole story.
I think eyes are the most beautiful parts in the face and they can convey what you think in your mind

I don't know about that, but there is a whole bunch of people who study how people's eyes move when they talk. There are thinks like you can tell when someones lying when their eyes move to the left or maybe its right...I can never remember which.

I have not heard that before... hmmm might have to see next time I am talking to someone - although I am pretty sure that I look from one eye to the other eye a lot when looking into someone elses eye... if I focus on one eye more than the other I dont know which one that is - but i bet I will be trying to take notice next time...

I also focus on the left eye. Maybe it has something to do with being right handed or left handed...lol
One of our daughter's has a friend with a prosthetic eye and it happens to be her right eye. Therefore, I look into her left eye each time we speak. She can see that I am looking directly at her this way and not staring at the fake eye.

Oh no, now I will have to pay attention and see. Actually I often lower my eyes when I am discussing. I am sure I appear dishonest or shy. I will test this out and see what I do.

I think I look into both of their eyes. Sometimes I catch myself looking into one eye and then I'll move my eyes over to their other eye LOL. I just feel like you need to look someone in their eyes when you talk to them. It makes me feel like they are really listening and taking in what I'm saying when they do.

What an interesting tidbit of infor. I never really thought about it. I myself watch peoples mouth. I have a little trouble hearing and find if I watch their mouth I can tell what they are saying better.
I will have to pay more attention and see if I notice the left eye thing.
Thanks for starting something different.
Hugs

I tend to switch back and forth. Sometimes people will look away if you look them in the eye too long, so if you switch, they stay with you longer. As a rule though, with people I know, I favor the right eye.
That must have been a very real looking prosthesis for people not to realize that they were looking at a fake!

I never thought about it but I had a neighbor with an eye that was slightly different than the other and a friend that had a spot on one eye in the coloring and I couldn't help looking at these eyes and not the other. I always get stuck on something when I look at a face. I knew someone with overly tweezed eyebrows, it was like watching a train wreck, I couldn't look away. Or if they have a mole or a big zit, I can't look away!

When i talk to people i usually look at them in both eyes at once :p, i really dont conecentrate on one because i think thats weird, choosing one eye over the other, i really dont think it matters alot which eye people looks into, just as long as u have eye contact its good

Dear Elusive....I saw a report on this.....
Emotions are formed in the right side of the Brain , But Manifest themselves on the leftside of the Face , before the right.
So when we are talking to someone ....without realizing it we are all ready searching for their reaction to our Discussion.
Pretty Cool huh ?

Hey, this is a quirky one! I've never thought about which eye I look at when I look someone in the eye and there's nobody else up here right now so I'll have to wait till tomorrow to test it out. And when I do I'll be conscious of it so will I do what comes naturally or not? This is interesting; I wonder who cam up with this, who ever did a study on something like this?

Hello dear elusive butterfly. I have not paid attention to which eye I look at the other party or which eye I am looked at while conversing with each other. It is very interesting to know the fact you have mentioned here. I would like to have a try and start to pay more attention to it on purpose as a test. lol. Thanks for your discussion.
