Microsoft Windows XP used more than Windows Vista

Knowing the fact that Windows Vista emerged last year in January it is not used often than Windows XP. In today's businesses or even at home people find it more reliable and user friendly using XP over Vista. For the complaints and issues that customers have faced with Vista has reached the sky with the same stories how sluggish and unstable applications perform on Vista - even those with laptops or desktops running 1GB of RAM/Memory. I have to agree on that as well. I've purchased systems and laptops running Vista for testing purposes - I've run systems with only 512MB of DDR or DDR2 RAM and believe me you wouldn't want to have a system like that - I've even ran systems with 1GB or even 1.5GB of RAM still not so friendly. The issue is that this new operating system asks for so much power in hardware. So I still stick to Windows XP which hasn't become a problem and makes my applications run much better. So I am in no big hurry in the meantime until Microsoft gets Vista fixed pretty soon. How about you? Are you still using Windows XP or have you switched over to Windows Vista?

It is so common for people to stick with what they have when new things come out because of all the problems the new options have. I think too, that alot of people are just learning how to "do it themselves", and build their own, or have it built to their own specifications. My son use Win 98 for about 13 years before the speed of the PC was so slow he turned it in but got Vista. I just tried to update to IE 7.0 and there were so many problems I deleted it and went back to 6.0! Now I hear 8.0 is on its way out! I think they just "upgrade" things so fast, that they either miss or purposely don't do, things that cause problems. Plus, there is so much out there, and so many uses and so many reasons, it is hard to satisfy everything, so they just satisfy some, which causes problems for others. I heard something while back, that the WWW was now so obsolete that they are considering "trashing" it and starting over with a new system! Good grief, can you imagen that kaos that would bring?

Yep, I went back to what worked 6.0. I just need more speed or whatever as I always have at least 2 windows open at the same time and it gets a bit slow. But nothing compared to the problems I had with 7.0!

I have known a few people who have tried Vista but they didn't like it so they went back to XP, one of my friends bought a new laptop and it had Vista on it already as they all do she hated it so much she sold it and bough an older laptop with XP on it, I have a lot of old programs that i am so comfortable with, I have been told some will never work on Vista so i would never want to have it...

Although Windows XP is not perfect anyway, but at least it works fine most of the time. I agree with you that Windows XP is still much more popular than Windows Vista. As not many software can work in Vista yet. I don't like that.

My notebook came with Vista I was not impressed with how poorly designed it was. not only because it is a resource hog like you stated above but because it is too "user friendly" Seriously did it need to ask me everytime i wanted to do anything on my own laptop. I also bought vonage v phone and was sadly disappointed with all the compatibility issues it has with vista. linux ftw
