Well, not necessarily. Linux's OS are much better in my opinion. They are safe and fast, but they aren't really flexible with software compatibility.
But still, I'm using XP more even though I'm dual booting Ubuntu too. Microsoft is ruling the market, which causes compatibility problems. Gates likes to steer away from competition :)

I don't agree with you: the primary reason Windows is dominating is because they have never targeted the elites but the mass.
Linux has long being for geeks with an awfulll GUI. Once they understood that they have to make their OS more usable by the mass had they any chance to compete.
Making a product for the mass is much more difficult tan making a product for the geek as the geek like to be a geek: he loves complicated things instead of simple things.
By the way I'm software engineer so I'm also a geek in my profession but I do like simple things.

I never looked at it quite that way, but you do have a valid point. But the compatibility issues to kind of help out Linux in a way. Programming on Linux offers a more steadier workflow than with XP. You never know what error you're going to get :P Joking, joking. I don't know. Maybe it's just me who sees XP as a bit of a clunky mess.

Ya till now xp is the best os in the computer history. it is quite stable and it is user friendly. most of the people use windows xp as their os. but few use linux also. The xp os get boots fast than any other os and can be installed in any configuration machine, and it very rarely gives errors. till now i had found that xp professional is good. but the xp 64 bit os had also come out. but it is not good as the 32 bit. it has some problems. now after the xp, vista has come to the market, now most of the users who have high end machine use vista. but it had not proved as comfortable as the xp.
