should a student in elementary work for over 12 hours a day?

My nephew is a sutdent in a elementary school ,each time i see him ,he is learning .he wears thick glasses,he has few time to play ,he has few chance to go out home after school,what he needs to do is to learn .i dont think it is right to educate children in this way ,but i cant help him,how can i do ?could the people here give me some good ideas ?

It sounds extremely rigorous, but maybe he enjoys it? Does he? If not then you should try to help him get into some fun extracurricular activities that will help ease the stress of studying all the time. How old is he exactly? He could probably survive on less hours of studying, and still excel. What about his parents? Do they have a say in what goes on?

hi trinihd ,thank you for your response,he is only 11years old, i had told to his parets,but they just want him to work hard,so he can go to the university to learn more knowledge.i just do not know how can i do to help him out.

Maybe if you planned outings, and got his parents to agree to let you take him, that might help. Of course, they might just say 'no' but it is still worth trying. He will burn out before he reaches the age to attend college if they keep pushing him like that.

maybe he is being over-pressured to recieve good grades.
