Microsoft vs Linux

Whiles Microsoft has done well to keep its source code secret, Linux has willingly given out its source code in the hope that it improves the various distributions of linux.currently Microsoft commands over 80percent of the OS martket.what do u say would be their positions in the next 25 - 50 years

well in the recent years...linux has gained acceptance and popularity to a great extent...thanks to the opganisations such as ubuntu,fedora,red hat ,etc....
and also apple with its mac osx is posing a threat to windows domination...
so i think in the future may such OSes will be in use...

I can seriously see Linux getting stronger, it has for the past few years, But the fact MS take a marketing edge to their products, and linux distro are just there for free, MS will always have that little bit above them, But linux is catching up, with more computer users these days that would be a bit more tech savy, Are finding linux, and liking it!
