Do you sometimes wish you had a job that was close to nature?

I was just thinking today, how nice if I had a job that would bring me close to nature daily. There is so much natural beauty in nature. Do you sometimes envy the forest ranger, the person who gets to spend all his time amidst the beauty of national parks and reservations. Or those who even work as gardeners. Where they see plants and flowers daily. I guess perhaps those who work close to majestic mountains and gorgeous rivers also have less people problems! Unless of course these are popular tourist destinations. Do you love nature? Do you wish you were closer to it daily instead of being holed up in an office cubicle?

I've often thought the same but must admit I am close to that now - I work from home between the arts and crafts business and my writing I am 'inside' alot but where we moved this last summer is in the country with acers of land around us - lots of nature including the family of deer who graze in the 'back yard' tons of birds eating from the feeders I've put out, and even a group of wild turkeys in the back - I have a crafting table set up facing out one set of windows and my recliner where I do most of my computer work faces out another so I have a nice view of nature most of the day - also I have the freedom being my own boss to go out when weather permits and garden also.

Actually the turkeys don't make much noice at all but it was getting cold when they visited and am sure they were busy storing up on what food they could find. What's noicy are the Canadian Geese that fly over - their south for the winter now but they'll be back in the spring and I'm sure as noicy as they were in the fall when they passed over. I was thrilled today - I hadn't seen the 'deer' family, Mom and twin babys since deer season started - they were back today and wow the babies have grown in just a couple months.

I do not mind a job that does not tie me down to just sitting in the cubicle in the office. Unless the job with nature is going to be paying what I am currently getting, I doubt that I will be making that switch. There are lots of jobs that can pay and still allow you to be close to nature. Other jobs that I could think of that allows you to be close to nature are: 1) Photographer 2) Researcher 3) Writer for various species of plans or animals 4) Botanist The question is are you willing to pay the price to be close to nature. This price could include time with family. Stable income from a day job... etc.

that's true... not easy to get a job that pays well in our country unless it's with NParks as an arborist!

I also thinking how nice if I have a job that bring me closer to the nature daily cause I am working with the same walls 5 days a week, seeing the same people. I know I have more than 10 years with this job,So there is nothing for me to get excited about my job. But to be woring with nature would be fantastic. You would see something different everyday and also learn something new everyday in the nature.

I think working with nature must be amazing. I hate being shut in the same 4 walls 5 days a week, seeing the same people. I know i've only just started this job, as they keep telling me i'm only the tem. So there is nothing for me to get excited about my job. But to be woring with nature would be fantastic. You would see something different everyday and also learn something new everyday. Not quite sure how to get into something like this in the UK but must be worth thinking about.

I have never thought about it.It would be very nice to have a job nearby nature. If i would have a lunchbreak i could go for a walk or just quit my job sooner that day and go for a walk.I think it would be very relaxing to do that. Well maybe one day. You'll never know.

I, too, am dreaming to be into a nature-related work. It seems that it would give a satisfying feeling.

I love what I'm doing now but yes I wish my job is closer to the beach or garden, not necessarily forest. It's going to be physical work, not sitting in the office surrounded by paper, but I know I will love it more
