I believe that the cost of fuel has contributed to the great increase in the cost of food and everything else. It is hard to eat healthy. I hear people saying that they are growing their food. I know that helps. I buy with a buying group called Prairie Land foods, that encourages volunteerism and uses the power of group buying to get the best deals on good food. I know I used to be much more careful than I am now. Good luck caring for your health.

I agree, food has increased in cost. What you can do is buy a mix of fresh and frozen veggies (frozen is always cheaper) and only buy fruits and veggies that are in season when you buy them fresh. Buy oatmeal and other whole grain alternatives to pasta, rice etc - there really is not a huge costs difference there. You should also read the packaging - don't buy things with more than 9g of sugar per serving, with enriched flour, hydrogenated oils or un-natural sugars. Always clip coupons, I saved $16 this week just through coupons.

Yes, the cost of food is going up. Partly this is due to the drought in Australia. Farmers & vegetable/fruit growers have to pay a lot more for water, & this is causing the price to go up. Some fruits & vegetables can be quite expensive now.

That's why I grow as much as possible the food we eat. My crawlspace has turned into a root cellar last fall. I have lots of potatoes, carrots, and beets to name a few. Also have a freeze full of corn, peas, green beans, etc. Just can't afford to eat healthier otherwise.

The food remains about the same, but I am thinking that you are seeing a difference because of your diet change. When you have to change your diet the food you are allowed to eat is always the more expensive stuff. If there ever comes a time when they tell me I have to eat healthy foods, well then I am going to die, because I sure can't afford the healthy or organic foods.
