I always used to wonder who sent them my email ID...
do they send theor content to random email addresses or use the ones that we provide to some online forums or sites...i think its the latter that is responsible...

this is also my question. everyday i receive emails from africa informing me about their frozen accounts and something. it annoys me because obviously they are scams but i wonder how they are able to get my email address. i agree with you. probably, some sites that i signed up with, they have connections with these scammers. so i maintain 2 email accounts. one for signing up with sites and other for personal and professional matters.

I am not sure if this is correct, but any time you sign up for anything not just online that will ask for your email address, these are collected and then are sold to 3rd parties , which turn around and spam your inbox. There are so many thinks you give your email address too, like when you sign up for a blog or forum or shop online those are collected for not just that reason but are a big part. I am not saying every one does it but I do believe that at least 90% do. So just for that reason I have a spare email, which there are so many places you can get a free email address from, just give that instead of your real one. I did this and now I only get emails I want and my junk email is scary it can vary each day how many emails I get there from 100's to 1000 a day its crazy. Hope this will help you.
