about 2 years ago I was laid up for alomost 2 months and I did not have a lot of money to spend. Food was more important than those expensive cleaners (even the $1 ones). So one day i was talking to a friend who had a book on Homemade cleaners. from that point on I was addicted. I decided to go on the internet and find more. WOW! there are a lot of them. Since I did this I have never bought another cleaner. I make them myself, such as All Purpose Cleaners, scrubbing powders and floor cleaners. I have probably saved about $200 since then. Yeah I know it does not sound like a lot of money but it adds up. Does anyone else make their own Cleaners?

I have been finding new uses for products that I already have in the kitchen such as as using baking soda instead of buying comet or other cleansers. I also use vinegar because it is cheap and is a good sanitizer. I mix 1 cup vinegar to a pint of rubing alchol and a teaspoon of dish detergent put in a gallon jug and fill with water. This is good for every thing from the stove top to windows.

Hi graedragon, it has been a while since you were online. I do hope you can see this post. Erm... what book was it that got you started? I am interested to find out more about that book. I too did an online search for cleaners that we can make out own. But some of the stuff that is recommended is not readily available where I am from. I am wondering if there are any other alternatives to the stuff so that I too can make some on my own with supplies from local stores. It seems like baking soda and borax is easily available. But here where I lived, it is a controlled item. Sigh... any good sites to recommend? Especially one that uses everyday items that one can easily get from the supermarket to get our cleaning jobs done?
