Wow, you certainly got to marking best response fast. I usually wait at least a week, sometimes longer.
The friends section is really just what it says. A way of making friends, although you can track your friends, it is really a way of keeping up with and interacting with the same people so as to create a relationship. I hope you enjoy it here, I know I have.

It is not possible to fail at myLot, and no, the FAQ don't explain a whole lot. But as long as you know the do's and dont's you should be okay. I would just wait to mark your best response until at least a week so you give as many people as possible a chance to answer your post. Then you can really pick the best one. And you are right, it does help to be rated positive, but marking a best response won't necessarily help with your ratings.

Ugh. Em i looking in the wrong place or does the Faq not explain alot? I am not even sure what marking a best response does. I know when I post a question it always says this user has not selected a best response. Then I feel bad, because I think I should. I understand that you can make a little more money if your responses are marked postive. but thats it. :(
I am failing at my lot :(

I think a friends list is a great way to provide you with a ready suply of discussions to respond to and will hopefully respond to you. It is how the social networking side of this site works

I think it's more for tracking people you find interesting. I would hope that, in the process, people find connections. Since Mylot is also a loose but directed social network, I would think business partners, writing partners, and other collaborative relationships could develop.

To begin with it's the only way you can send a person a message because unless you've added each other as a friend, the feature is not available.
It also means that more people are likely to read your discussions as many people check their friends' posts and also if there's someone whose posts you enjoy reading, you can keep track of them on your list. It's also an opportunity to make friends.

you do not automatically earn any points or any financial gain with having friends here. however, you will be able to, as you said, track their discussions. this will facilitate your responding to your friends. if you have friends with similar interests, then responding will be a breeze for you. you don't have to go to the interest section and search for discussion.

I think the only way to get a financial gain is if you referred the friends. If they are only friends, I think its just a way to communicate, meet new people, and yes, stay updated on the discussions they post.
I could be wrong though, as I only joined yesterday. This is from what I understand.
