Anyone got any great ideas or inventions they wish to share?
I have often wondered in this day and age of hydrid cars and everyone looking to increase fuel consumption, why no one has come up with small solar panels that can be on the hood of the car and be used to charge up batteries, which are used to power small electrical devices inside the car(and all cars are getting more and more of them). The batteries could power the radio/cassette/cd, the GPS, the interior lights and any other electrical device. It wouldn't save much, but, maybe enought to get another mile or two per gallon.
Considering that many cars spend all day sitting in a parking lot in full sun, it would seem like a good idea.
Even better would be to use a sunroof or even the windows as some kind of solar panel.
Anyone got their own crazy ideas?

I like the idea, but I think the weight of even a small solar panel would negate any small gas savings...but what if there were publicly available solar panel in parking lots etc and we could plug into them while we work or shop.
I know it is not realistic to have them at each parking place..but it is just a thought.

Well, I don't think most people would put up with a car that goes 5 mph - no matter how much gas they saved.

I recall my last statement. I just read about a car called Nuna II which was built in 2003. It won the a solar race in Australia which was 1800 miles long in just over 31 hours, which if my math is correct is an average of about 60 mph! This car also has a top speed of 105 mph!

I believe someone made a solar vehicle that ran for 1000 miles at about 5mph!

We have great inventors here in our country, the only problem is they get less support from the government. So they tend to go abroad, they look for others who'd provide financial aide for their inventions and sell their pattented products on that host country as well. So instead of our country benifitting from their creations, it goes to other nations.
We have some who invented a coconut oil-fueled power generator, some hydro-powered cars and others..

I think it's true everywhere and has been happening for years. Sadly, inventors often go where the money is, which for years has been in the USA.

There is a must need of pollution free car's and automobiles.. They can be modified to solar car's.
By doing this we can control Global Warming.

Actually, they just have to work on the design for the solar cells so that the cells can produce more power even if there are a limited number of them. Great advances are being made as of this moment. Solar power is slowly but surely taking off. The oil companies don't want us to have free power!! I mean think of all the companies that would go bankrupt if ever this were to succeed 100%. It's so sad...they won't be able to buy their 3rd summer mansion or 4th ferrari. Hehe. Take care.

Don't bring up oil companies, they are run by the pure scum of the earth.
Due to their greed, millions of families are suffering as day to day neccessities like milk, bread etc are going up and up in price.
As you say, it all about making more money for themselves, nothing else.
