Information on Microsoft Word

I would like to know what exactly this software does and the cost crieteria. also, the requirements and other features of this software.

As far as i know you have to buy to complete package of microsoft office , which includes word, powerpoint,excel,info path,outlook and access.. The cost of ms office is around $250
