Outdoor Shopping Center or a mall?

Which do you prefer an outdoor shopping center where each shop has their own little space? Or do you like the mall, where all the shops are under one roof?I like both.On a day like yesterday and today where it is not too hot or cold, an outdoor shopping center is great. You get to shop and enjoy the great weather at the same time. And when the weather isn't that great, the mall is great. All the stores you need under one roof.the only time you are out in the elements is when you go to the car.
I would like to know which you prefer because one of my beloved malls is going to be razed and is going to become a shopping center.

Hi,there! Well, frankly speaking,I would say I prefer going to a shopping mall.I think there're many things that you can take a look in the shopping mall. Moreover, you don't need to walk for too long. It's very convenient to choose things in a shopping mall:) But if one wants to enjoy the weather and the sightseeings outside, then maybe the different stores will be nice. Thanks for the discussion and I hope you enjoy every shopping experience in the future.Have a nice day^_^

I like to go to the mall as it is much more comfortable. Try to imagine if it is rainy or so sunny outside, it is not relaxing to walk in the outdoor shopping center. Whereas the mall will have air-conditioner and it will be good in summer.

During nighttime I occasionally will have a visit to the outdoor shopping center nearby, as the weather is not hot. There are many attractive and cheaper items display there.
Most of the time I prefer shopping at the spacious mall with air con provided especially during hot sunny day. It is also quite convenient during rainy days as we could have our car to be parked at its indoor car park which is free of charge.

I think malls are very convenient, as you say everything under one roof. The only drawback - can't stand them. Too many people and its like sensory overload. The worst part is the scents that give me an instant migraine, either from shops like bed bath and beyond or the department stores (thank goodness that they no longer spray you with perfume as you walk by - for those with asthma this can be lethal) or the kiosks with incense, perfume, cosmetics with a strong smell.
I guess outdoor shopping centers because they would be more likely to hold stores I like - little uniqueu stores like Kokeppelli. Really though - although its a lot in one place, I prefer a flea market, usually its outdoors so it doesn't seem as crowded and its worth the hassle because of unique finds. And thrift shops. I adore them, I can find everything from the artsy to the classical look - much with the original price tags still on.
However, my favourite place to shop is neither of those, its a renn fest or online. I love Ebay and Amazon. I love seeing what local stores have and who has the best price and then my husband can go the things! He doesn't mind shopping - he even does most of the grocery shopping. Well I go to Sunflower Market with him to get fresh stuff and he gets the rest.

I like both too...malls I think have seen their days and many sit empty or almost empty. I do some craft sales in malls and prefer to do them there as you are right about the elements. However if the weather is nice a shopping center is fun! Just like the old days when every little town had a down town!

I agree with you and it completely depends on the weather, and your mood, and whether you are bringing children with you.
We have an "outdoor shopping area" in Kingston Ontario Canada, called the Rio Can centre. And it's neat, all the stores have their own buildings - which means they are bigger and have much more room to organize things, and there is a large parking area.
There is also the Cat centre, which is the big mall in Kingston. There are different stores in each though, so you end up going to both at one time or another. I like the mall in Kingston BUT the BIG DOWNER is that there is only one elevator! So if you have a child in a stroller you have to walk allllll the way down to the other end just to walk allllll the way back down to get to where you were going. It's dumb.
Whereas, if I have my baby girl in a stroller at the outdoor shopping center it is VERY accessible (I guess this would apply to wheel chairs as well). Because you can go in and out of stores, and each have only one level. MUCH better!
Happy Wednesday!
