When we meet someone for the first time, there is a certain physical characteristic that we notice right off -
it may be their build, their eyes, their hands, their hair - just something about people that we tend to notice
before noticing other things.
What is it that you tend to notice first when meeting someone for the first time?

I would have to say that I notice their face first, most notably the eyes and smile.
I think that is pretty much a normal reaction though. Even animals will look you straight in the eyes when approaching. There is something about the eyes that give away a persons true feelings.
This is something that politicians have to guard against...having negative eye contact could really be detrimental!

:) I notice if they are male or female first, which I suppose I gather mainly by looking at their faces... it is really unnerving when you come across people who have an androgynous look to their faces, their build, their clothing, and you wait for them to speak to find out that their voice too is indefinitive!

yes fiest impression is very important. It is rightly said that The First Impression is the Last Impression. As far as your question is concerned, I usually first notice hairs and eyes.

It depends...it's different strokes for different folks.
Usually it's what stands out on a person be it their size, their height, big nose, bushy eyebrows, big smile, rough hands. It's no one thing with me. It could be the way he's dressed, his voice, the way he speaks or what he says.

Often, the first thing I notice is the way the person interacted with me, that often would leave a mark. :D
