There's 6 months between me and my husband. We've been married 8 years now.
There was 2 years between my parents and they were together for 29 years before my mom passed away in 2000.

I thought four means "die" in Mandarin? =P Or it can be interpreted as "forever" in Mandarin too. Hehehe. Well, I am not married, but there's a 5 years gap between me and my girlfriend.
I have never heard of that belief as a Chinese before and I think I am ok with the years gap between me and my future wife, be it for whatever years, as long as me and my future wife understand and compromise each other. I think those are what most important in a marriage.
