Who or what inspires you to write?
It's really nice to write something if you really have an inspiration, right?

I feel inspired to write when I am a certain level of tired, worn down and needing some writterly therapy. But what inspires my ideas? As the others have said, it can be anything, especially idiot conversations with my very silly friends down the pub; I find the raucous, claustrophobic atmosphere of our lovely local (with a good ale or whiskey in hand) when the folk band are playing to be a great atmosphere for writing.
I carry a notepad and pen/pencil everywhere with me. If something comes to mind I'll write down a few quick sentences for when I feel like writing... going through my notebook for the first time in a month or so is a strange experience, and quite random.
Trying to find inspiration is always interesting. I find showers are a great way to think of something to write about (possibly with a specific album/playlist playing... I have different playlists for writing different things). You can empty your mind and just let words and ideas float around until they mesh into something worth putting to paper/word.

Television, movies, video games, music, other books could be anything really. I think it's easier to write with some level of inspiration, you kind of have an idea of what you're trying to do. When you've got none you still know what you want to do you just have no real idea of how to get there, which is rather frustrating. At least that's how I've found it to work for me.

Like others have mentioned, anything could be a source of inspiration. I sometimes look at the sky, and I feel the urge to write. Most of the time though, lyrics from a song play an essential role to me in writing. I admire the songwriters who could express so much in such a few words.
Also, I joined an online writing community and it too has helped inspire me to write some more. It's a great site for writers of different genres. There are classes, forums and contests to join. You can critique other's work as well as have your work critiqued. I think that knowing how others react to your work will help a lot in improving one's writing, thus also gaining confidence in the process...that you can write about anything that inspires you. Do let me know if you're interested and I can PM you the site.

Anything and everything has the potential to inspire my writing. Sometimes however, nothing seems to do. It really just depends. Sometimes something on tv or music or something will inspire something in me and I'll just have to write because it struck a nice chord with me. It all really depends.

everything that interests me inspires me. It could be from anywhere. Television, book, movies, news or other peoples opinion.
When I tried to write a novel when I was in high school, what really kept me going are my classmates who read it and liked it and wanted me to write some more. It inspires me to see them figuring out the storyline by the clues I give them. I never let them guess the ending though.

I'm inspired to write when I'm feeling sad or depressed. It really helps to get my feelings out by writing, and I even end up feeling better! I love to write, but I love reading even more!

It's usually my imagination and my emotions. I write as the mood moves me. Music is also a motivational device. Because I am a dancer first and foremost, a lot of my writing tends to be dance-related whether it was by accident or by design! But any topic that I am passionate about reveals itself naturally without me really thinking about it. I find it rather difficult to explain, but I am one of those introverted writers - I don't really go to a specific place or observe a specific population or (at least intentionally) use direct inspiration from things I see around me. In fact, I often find that if I rely solely on physical things that have happened to me in real life, it limits my artistic potential, so I try to reach out from the inside. I also use thesauruses a lot due to my love of words.

I agree with the others. It depends on what you are writing about. If you are writing about someone sitting out in the rain. Wait until a rainy day to describe it. I like to experience what I am writing about.

Hi Cathrel, different things inspire me to write. I can be watching television and some one may say something catchy and that will inspire me to write. Some times I'll have a conversation with some one and they will say something that will make me start writing.I can listen to the radio and hear a phrase in a song and get inspired. Then other times a thought comes to my mind and I'll start writing. I write songs so I'm easily inspired by just about anything.
