Want should I do now? Apply for more school, or do my bachelor thesis?

I am a graduate senior in Electronic Information Science and Technology, University of Science and Technology of China(USTC). I want to have in-depth study in US graduate school. But after I have applied nine schools, I feel that 320 GRE verbal score may cause the fail of my application. Now, should I apply for more schools to increase the possibility of success? Or do my bachelor thesis to make me have a publication next year, and improve English to prepare for 2009 fall apply? Since I do not have enough money to apply? All my living expense is earned by my part-time job. Thanks for your advice.
