There is a 62 year old lady at work who doesn't even have one wrinkle. She told me her secret. She started using vaseline
petroleum jelly on her face at the age of 20.She said she washes her face with it and then after she pats her face dry
she then uses the inside of a cucumber peel and pats that all over her face. She hasn't had a face lift. She has only used these two things on her face since the age of 20.I had heard that vaseline petroleum jelly prevents wrinkles before she
told me this.

Just remember if one thing works for one person it might not work for another. Keep that in mind. But hopefully it helps me out when I'm in my 60's.

All I know that I saw a t.v. show with a 90 year old Japanese lady celebrating her 90th birthday and she looked like she was no older then mid 50's. When she was asked if she had surgery or botox her reply was a disgusted "No! to much money"! She had used petoleum jelly for years. So, at the age 43 I tried it for myself and I have gotten more compliments on my skin then ever before. I will never go with out it, my skin continues to improve and so has my wallet.

I have tried putting vaseline petroleoum jelly on my face and had breakouts, ever since then I am still trying to find out how to clear my face. At the time when I tried putting veseline on my face my only concern was that my face was getting just slighty dry and now I have a bigger problem. Unfortunately, it doesn't work for me.

Hi dixie, thanks for your comment and info. I am also a believer in the effectiveness of using the old fashion, home/natural remedies and yes, get better results. As for trying the vaseline on my face, I tried it only a few times almost two years ago. At that time, I was lucky to have clear skin, had just given birth but was experienceing a little dryness on the face. Although in general, my face has the tendency to breakout, is pretty sensitive and tends to get oily. The first time I put the vaseline I did find it great. But a few times after, some breakouts occured. I really don't know if I had continued on, if my face would've cleared up after a while or not.
About peroxide using it as an astringent,is it safe for sensitive skin? And does it clear up/heal pimples? I'm a little hesitant to try out new things for my face as what you have mentioned, because it might aggravate it more. Although, I have read somewhere, some also don't work well on proactive. So, I guess, people have to find what works and doesn't work for them, one doesn't necessarily work well for another if it works great for some people.

Everyone is different, what works for one will not always work for someone else. But I can tell you that after 20 years in the business I found that most people could use the old fashion, cheap remedies without any problems and get better results. As far as breakouts the best thing I have found is using a little peroxide as an astringent, usually takes a week or two of doing it twice a day before it clears up after that you can just do it when you have a break out. If that does not work proactive is the best stuff on the market. Pricey but worth it. As far as the vaseline goes theres a few things you need to keep in mind. When you put it on you need to do it right after a shower or atleast washing your face with warm water. You don't use alot and you wipe the excess off, I like to use a warm moist towel for this also. Anytime you try something new you will be prone to breakouts for a week or so, but they shouldn't be really bad breakouts. You might get a pimple in one or two spots but you shouldn't break out all over your face. Also I wouldn't try anything new until you get your face cleared up first. I doubt your face broke out because of the vaseline or it would have cleared up shortly after you stopped using it. Hope that helps.

I don't know, I would be afriad it would cause me to break out. I think you might get better results from a petroleum jelly based cream so that it would have some ability to soak into your skin.

I suppose some people would be afraid to try it,especially if they already have break outs.

Hi Janis, I swear I'm not following you :) (and by the way I'm much nicer when I'm not discussing politics or womens lib) :D !! I've been a hairstylist & skin tech for 20 years, and I threw the expensive stuff away a long time ago. Vasaline works great because it forms a barrier and doesn't allow your skin to lose moisture. Most people will break out at first but once the skin adjusts to a new high moisture regimen it will calm back down. Although it is not for everyone. Petroleum based creams don't work the same. To make them a "cream" they have to be emulsified, that causes it to lose it's barrier quality and allows moisture to evaporate from your skin. I don't just use it on my face either. I use it all over when I get out of the shower (it only takes about 10 minutes to absord) and I don't have to fight dry skin anywhere anymore.

I'm glad your not a stalker.Yeah ,you seem nicer when you are off the subject of politics.Truthfully you were
beginning to annoy me on the subject of Hillary.I was thinking this morning when I opened up MyLot that Dixie5150
is going to be challanging me on Hillary again.Oh,boy.Anyway,I'm glad we can get off the subject and talk about something else here.I really thank you about the information you have on vaseline.I have been using it all over my body also.It really makes the skin feel good too.The guy that purified it and put it on the market believed in it so much that he used to eat a spoonfull of it a day and lived to be 96 years old.I wouldn't go that far as to eating it but I do think it is pretty wonderful stuff.I read that people have even given it to their cats to help them caugh up hair balls, but if anyone wants to do this please talk to your vet first.
I cleared up a dogs terrible rash with it.A friend of ours left their dog with my husband and I while they went on a
visit to California. The dog had a horrible and smelly rash on its belly area.I guess their dog groomer cut the dogs
hair too close and caused an infection and rash. The vet gave them some medicine to put on it but it didn't seem to be
helping. They didn't have time to go back to the vet before leaving to California.I first gave their dog a bath because
I couldn't stand the smell of what was going on with the belly area then after it was dry I poured on some hydrogen
peroxide.I then started putting the vaseline on once a day.It began looking better everyday and by about four or
five days, cleared it up.I really was happy to see evidence of its healing power.

By the way I use to annoy several of my clients who were crazy enough to argue politics with me. I'll admit I'm a little persistent. One of the ladies I use to work for actually posted a warning sign over my station saying she would not be held responsible for the outcome of any political discussions with me :D
