Will you rate someone negative if the response is not agreeing with your choice?

When anyone posts a discussion that may be a tad contriversial they have to be prepared that not every one is going to agree with them. I try never to rate anyone negative because they always have a right to there opinion no matter how different it is from the posters. I have given a negative mark to the response that I have been rated negative because they didn't like my discussion. I will be plusing you for your discussion.

I agree with you. I've gone from 4 to 7 back to 4 now 5. I don't mind when someone disagrees with me as long as they do it politely. In fact I prefer some to disagree that way I can learn something. I posted a few Obama comments and got some non-positive comments. I plussed both comments because I learned a few things I didn't know and now I am even more prepared to do battle with the Clinton faction. (Hope that line doesn't get me back down to 4) Good luck on getting back to 10. I try not to even look at my star even though its awlays there staring right back at me.

Hey subha12 No My lot is a forum/platform where different type of members with their different views are writing . Hence some one may find your post or comments negative and some one may find it positive, that does not mean that negative rating is due to dislike of your post and comments. Always be positve. For example today I may rate you positive tomorrow I may rate you negative that depends on my views and thinking on the subject. pkc3000

no one is rated negative because see what ever u posted will b accepted by some /it may b negative some others so by that no one is rated as negative .ok but what r these stars how r they rated .what is its importance

Never. As long as the post is relevant, I give it a plus, if only in hopes that other people feel that way as well and mark me a plus. It doesnt make sense to mark someone negative just because you dont agree with them. You should be thankful they posted to begin with, so you can respond to them again. Never mark negative unless it is needed.

I'm afraid there will always be some members here who abuse the star rating system. I've personally often given BR to someone who posted a response disagreeing with me if they gave a well written and thought out response. It's frustrating I know. My star dropped to a 7 a few months ago and I'm still struggling to bring it back up, with no success so far. Annie

I would never rate someone negative even if their opinion is opposite of mine... in fact... i always rate positive those who respond to my discussion... and that includes you... you just responded to my discussion and i immediately gave you a positive rating... there are rating bashers here and i think they don't have anything good to do that is why they go around rating members negative... But don't worry... you will soon get your blue star 10 back... i like the discussion that you usually start... and i appreciate the fact that you always respond to my discussions... so Kudos to you Subha12...

Hello dear friend. Anyone who responds to my discussions are welcome with either the same or different ideas and views. They are always rated plus. I hold the view that so long as I am friendly to people, I will be treated the same way and so I am. I am happy for my friends here, who are always so nice and friendly and kind to me whatever responses I deliver. Thanks for your dicussion, dear friend.

No I will never rate a negative on someone just because the response is not agreeing with my choice. This is a free forum and everyone here is given a freedom to say whatever he/she wants to (except profound, cursing words and others against myLot rules). We have freedom of speech and we should respect each others views on the topic.

subha I would never ever do that to anyone, thats against my lot rules. you do not minus someone because you do not agree.only if someone insults you or flames you. I am sorry to hear your star dropped. yes we should all expect to hear different views from people and not be offended by them at all.

I am newbie here. Still I am responding. I would never rate anyone negative. If someone disagrees with me and if I cannot stand comment which doesn't cater to my ideas I think it would end up to be an interesting discussion altogether. Why should I rate negative. The sole purpose of this place will be lost thus.

No, but, only if they get really nasty or say something, that was totally uncalled for! This gives me all grounds to rate them negative.. A negative rating for a negative person!

i think if someone is doing it in a way of attacking someone they deserve it otherwise no everyone has a rite to express there opinion some people just post thou and want people to agree with them but that's not what mylot is about

I dont rate them negative, what I do is that I dont give them any rating at all. Giving negative rating means also giving your self a negative rating. So to improve the reputation over all here on mylot I have not given any negative rating since the day mylot gave me a warning not to, coz they said it could also affect my reputation.

yes, I agree with you. When in a controversial discussions, one must be ready to get all kinds of responses/comments. One should be able to handle it with open mind. Someone has rated me negative because of the comment I left. He went on a rampant to rate me negative. My rating went down drastically the next day I logged in. I think people shouldn't do this. It makes mylot not a fun place to come. It can even raise one blood pressure.

Just because someone dont agree with what your saying, I dont think they should rate you as negetive. But if its really bad, and there just slamming you then I would atleast report them. People have opinions even thoe we wish they were all good. ~WiteNgtOwl

I don't rate people negative. If I don't feel like it's appropriate for my disucssion I just don't mark it. Or if I don't understand it because of bad grammar I just don't mark it. I don't think people should rate people negative but that's my opinion. Have a great day.

If you want the truth as a newbie I've done it a couple of times weeks ago, when I didn't know + and - were used for rating (I thought they were about if I liked the opinion or not LOL) Now I'm tempted to do it with nasty answers but I don't do it unless the answer is completely rude.
