Which holiday costs you more money?

In my opinion, the Chinese New Year will cost me the most money. As at that time we will visit to our relatives, friends and we often go out to have a good meal. And we have to buy gifts. Besides, we will give red pocket money to children. And we will give money to our parents. So this holiday is very expensive:)

Hello dear youless. I can say no more about this. You are completely right on this point. We need to not only give lucky money to our parents to thank them for their bringing us up and so many wonderful things that they have done for us, but also give our kids some lucky money as well to wish them lucky all the year round on the special and traditional festival of our culture. I am going to buy a new fridge for my parents as a new year gift to them before the Spring Festival. My parents are getting excited for this now. I am so happy that I can do always do something to make them happy. Happy Spring Festival to you and your family in advance, my dear youless.

oh yes.. chinese new year... i dun celebrate that.. but i do know that my chinese freinds - the married ones - say that they really have to spend so much money for this celebrations - especially for the 'angpows'. i guess in every culture, every religion - our respective celebrations do require us to spend quite a big amount of money... the christians have their Christmas, the muslims have their Eids, the hindus have their Deepavalis. even if we dont spend it on angpows, or gift-money, we still need to buy approriate clothings, food preparation, travelling expenses - like me, going back to my in-laws... and that costs a lot (petrol + hi-way tolls).

for me its Christmas that is more costly for me. because i usually buy a lot of gifts since i have lots of godchildren and little nephews and nieces plus friends and officemates and not to mention my older cousins and loved ones. ^__^;; added from that, i buy the ingredients for my specialty dessert which i usually prepare when there's an occassion. ^__^

I think Christmas cost us the most money since we have to buy presents and then give out some cash as well to friends and relatives. Plus all the preparations that go with the season, such as decors, meals, and so on. Then New Year would be next costly because also of preparing another good set of meals and then fireworks also are expensive and people usually don't just buy one.

Yes the Lunar Chinese New Year costs us a lot of money. But for me personally, I usually spend much more during Xmas because of all the different cosmetics or skincare gift sets. Then I would buy more clothes and stuff. Xmas is my favorite festival and I am usually happy to spend a few more hundreds on stuff.

definately christmas for me as you tend to spend way too much money on presents and food.and it usually takes me the whole year to recover from it financially, and then it is christmas again and you spend another small fortune.cheers sue

The most expensive holiday for me is Christmas, because you have to buy all your family members presents then your close friends and partners then there is the odd Secret Santa or two, so a couple more presents there. On top of that is the cost for the food for Christmas dinner and for new clothes, drink costs and stuff for Christmas parties.

I think Christmas is like the Chinese New Year here. We spend lots of money for this important holiday.
