Sony BMG will finally sell mp3 formatted music just like iPod's iTunes download site. Music enthusiasts can now download using the so-called Sony BMG's MusicPass which costs $12.99 and will be available come Jan. 15 in the US and some parts of the Canada. Sony BMG assigns a site where one can download music and use the card to buy it. Advantages says unlike iTunes which u need the iTunes facilities and playable in iPods, the music that can be downloaded using this MusicPass provided by SonyBMG will already be in MP3 format and will be readily playable in most of music media players. The downloaded MP3s are still copy protected and still digitized according to Sony BMG.

With this new approach by Sony BMG, do you think this will curtail if not reduce music piracy?
