The earth has always gone through climatic shifts. There have been several ice ages & warming periods. The cycle will continue with or without our interference. We're probably accelerating the process a bit but it's going to happen anyways.

If we try to save our planet by ourselves it's very difficult. You know I live in the most beatiful place in the world Indonesia. We have a big-big forest, many Islands beatiful Island just like Bali, the wide ocean. Now, It's hot and more poluted every where. The uncontrol growth of population and technology make the our planet looks more worse. This is true and we can't denied. But maybe we can start with our life, use the recycle things, eat the healthy foods, and use eficiently technology for our life. at least it's helpful for our environment

there are many ways in which people could help the planet as well as ourselves, but as has been mentioned,it would take a great many more to be involved than there ever will be,mainly as to do what must be done, would take away many of the cumforts we now have. there are,and have been for years, the ability to build cars that do not use gasoline or diesel, but the big companies has bought the patents and shoved the designs away so they can continue making great amounts of money on the old ways. and can you imagine, mom's going back to cloth diapers and plastic pants? they might actually have to do a bit of work again looking after their child. the main culprit of course is big business, they are not going to slow down profits just for the sake of the planet. We can always wish, but we know the answer. thank you for the great discution.

We need to be making changes in many ways. There are plently of small things that can make a big difference. You might think that using your car for one less journey per month will not make any difference, but if the entire population of the US did that it would be huge saving. In the UK recycling is very big for two reasons, one becuase of the energy we need to save and two because we are running out of holes to dump the rubbish in!

I try to recycle when I can but it seems like for every 1 person that recycles, there are another 8 people that don't! its really frustrating to see this happen, because they are tearing up our planet and not even realizing it! A good way we could drastically cut down on pollution would be to carpool -- does anyone do that?

my husband carpools everyday he drives 4 of our employees to work!i think that more people need to..if u think about it if your running your car in the garage with the doors closed it can kill u in a matter of minutes,,we still breath all those fumes cause we have millions of cars running everyday and were do u think all that carbon monoxide is goin?we are breathing it all and slowly killing ourselves even if we are not in an inclosed area but we are still inhaling the fumes..its no good for us and its even worse for our planet!

Plant more trees. Use fuels that pollute less. Recycle.

The single eruption of Mt St. Helens put more toxins in the air than the U.S. has in the history of the "industrial revolution". That was a single eruption. If that's what the earth is able to do to itself, we mere mortals can't even compete. Yes, we should conserve, not litter, and not dump toxins into our water table, or water ways, but we should do those things because its logical, not because it will "save the planet".

Don't push it, the U.S. could cut down abit on all the CO2 they are putting in the air. However, Carpooling and such... does it really make a difference? Sure, if we all do it it does.. but that's never going to happen.

Yawn... CO2 has never caused global warming and never will. It's a farce.

its is not good. i have been to crowded cities here and abroad and the air quality is getting very bad..CLEAN water is not cheaply available and between the two we will pay dearly for "surviving"..but our children and grandchildren will suffer the most..farming is becoming harder and harder and we as a country are buying too much foreign foods..with only less then ! % inspection rate..time for cerious change in the recycling and the stop pollution laws plus stop using our farmlands for urban sprawl..
