What do you think about the televised hot dog eating contests?

Lmao I cant stand to watch these eaither they make me stick to my stomach. I can't help to wonder how they figured out they were good at this,did they wake up one day a say:hey lets see how many hot dogs I can eat before i burst?"

I can understand why people enter the contests -- to win the prize. What I don't get is how or why people watch other people in the contest. Personally, I can't stand watching people eat, so an eating contest where people stuff their face with food is just sickening to me.

I often wonder about such contests.. I wonder what long term affects..such things have on a person. I mean your stomach has to be bursting.

I share the bewilderment of the people that have posted before me as to why anyone would wish to be the Greatest Hot Dog eater or any similar title. I also feel that if they wish to compete at this then good luck to them, providing that it does not affect me. When it comes to televising this type of event, it is just another in a long line of excuses to fill the airtime with junk rather than provide us with some genuine entertainment.

I like the televised contest, especially the hot dog eating contest that happens every 4th of July. It's a personal tradition.

Yeah I dont really get it either, I would never willingly do something that makes me have to puke! If someone paid me a ton of money though I may give it a wirl haha! But it better be a nice check or I am out! But yeah really makes no since to have a eating contest show.

This is beyond me too lol. It would be gross to be a contestant but also gross for the viewers who are watching people literally stuff their faces with hotdogs or whatever the food might be.

I have never figured out Eating contests such as this. I think it is Discusting trying to outbeat someone like this. Makes me wonder how they can live with themselves as they end up usually getting to be Huge if they continue to ignore their eating habits. I guess though to each their own.

I don't understand how anyone could do this. I'm lucky if I could get two down before I got full.lol. I don't think I have ever seen one on tv though, do you remember what show or channel it was on.
