I've been diagnosed with this syndrome last Sept. Blood test result showed my hormonal level was alright. I'm not obese, in fact I'm underweight.
Surprisingly, some1 underweight could get this when this could only affect the overweight people. But I can't argue with the gynae coz, there's some evidence proved the existence of the disease in my body.
I just did another transvaginal thing yesterday. Another gynae confirmed that my 2 ovaries are bloating and they'
ve expanded due to containment of immature eggs. The doc told me that in my case, weight is not the issue that've induced this disease. She suspected additional hormone or cancerous cell that have been causing all this problem.
Sigh...another worry.. possible cervix cancer?? I did the prep smear test and the HPV DNA test to confirm this. Result is yet to know. I could only pray and leave things unto God's hand.
To treat the PCOS, doc suggested taking birth control pills for 6 months to control and decrease the sizes of my 2 ovaries. Hopefully, the immature eggs would shrink then subsequently disappear n restore my health back.
But I've been thinking of taking herbs like false unicorn root. At least the herbs would restore my hormonal level and my inner system naturally. Plus, falseunicorn root is a native american herb that has been popularly known as the fertility medicine. Many had given good testimonies about it.
Well, to those healthy women out there, I hope you'll take good care of ur ovaries coz you wouldn't want to imagine the pain n frustation I've been thru. I can't even eat properly coz I need to avoid all refined carbo food. Plus, my hair is losing everyday in great amount. So, take good care of female's most important instrument. You don't wanna upset them.. Anyone care to share their stories about this??

I was diagnosed in Feb. '06. In my case I am overweight, but my current dr said that while being overweight can be a side effect and doesn't help it any, it is not the soul cause. She has treated many women who are thin that have PCOS. On top of having PCOS I also have endometreosis. So I was put on a medication called Lupron that is shutting all of my hormones off. She said this could also help in the treatment of my PCOS.
It really is a complicated thing to deal with and it makes your body go nuts and that intern makes your mind go nuts. But you learn to manage I guess :)
I really do hope that all of you tests come back clean. Waiting is the worst part. I had a biopsy done late last year. My chances of having uterin cancer were high from being without a cycle so long. Everything came back ok, which I am sure is the case with you! :D Think positive!

I have had PCSO for 7 years. I had mega problems getting pregnant with my son and had to be inseminated. Anyway, i'm on metformin to control my hormones, and at times it does work. For the most part, my periods are regular, but sometimes way off base. It sucks to have PCOS! My right ovary swells very large, and causes alot of discomfort.
Well, thanks for sharing I figured I'd respond to your post since i can't relate :)
