Which is better - Homeschool or Charter School?

I have done "traditional" homeschooling with my children for several years. By traditional, I mean - buying curriculum and planning my course of action with each subject. At first I found it very challenging because I had no idea where to start, but as the months and years went by, it got much easier. The main problem I have with this method is the fact that even though your child completes the needed courses - they still must take a GED before entering College. Now, this year we have decided to put my son in a Charter School program. This is still operated from my home but the curriculum, text books, and any thing else needed is provided free of charge. He does part of his lessons online and part offline. The online system keeps track of his grades and issues a report card every nine weeks. Now that I have experience with both types of programs, my opinion is that a Charter School program is slightly better (not to mention more organized) than a traditional homeschool program. For those of you that have done either or both of these types of programs - What are your thought or opinions on the subject?
