"County, North Carolina has announced that 8-month pregnant missing marine Lance Cpl Maria Lauterbach is dead. Her body is believed to be buried in a shallow grave but has not been found. The Sheriff also stated that a Corporal Lauren is the prime suspect. Lauterbach accused Lauren of r aping her in April 2007. The search for Lauren is underway. This is another tragic situation that points out the sickness that has taken over our society. I am so sad for the victim and her loved ones who will have to endure the aftermath of this terrible thing.

I just heard this on the insider while ago. It is very sad to see all the things that are happening in the world today. Every time I turn around, someone is always murdering someone. There are alot of sick people in the world today. I wish we all could just get along. I feel so sorry for the girl, her unborn child and her family. I don't know what is wrong with people these days. The world has changed for the worst. I sure hope we can get some morals back soon.

Well, stephcjh, my mother used to say all the time how we should pray constantly, and I'm beginning to see what she meant. As human beings, I don't see how much more we can devolve.

Yes. Your mom is right. I do pray all of the time because the world just seems to get worse daily. I am always praying for things to get better for all of us in the world but it sure doesn't look good so far.

Oh that is terrible, I was hoping they were going to find her, but then when I heard earlier about the ra pe I thought this was going to turn ugly. That poor family, what is it with the people going after pregnant women, that poor baby too. My heart goes out to all the family and friends.

An example of how cruel and heartlesss people can be, mare, was brought home to me yesterday when I happened upon a blog while I was on Facebook. This guy said such horrible, rude things about this young woman that I could not believe what I was reading. I went there hoping to find understanding people who were feeling as bad as I over this incident-and that is what I came away with. It really messed up the rest of my day.

That is so tragic. I was hoping they would find her. I hope they prosecute the one that did this to her to the fullest extent of the law.

Thanks for the update. I did not know they found her body. The interview this morning with her mother seemed rather cold. She mentioned her daughter, she thought, suffered from mental illness and thought it was all a lie and she ran away. Either way, I would have been a basket case and no way I could have done an interview. Had an idea the father of the child was behind this disappearance since it was a supposed rape. How sad no matter what the reason or cause. Feel bad for the family of this young girl.

It seems to me, carolbee, they should have been searching for this poor girl much sooner. If she really phoned home on an average of several times each week, they just had to know!

Geez how horrible. I can never understand how anyone could kill a pregnant woman.

It is because many people, Aurone, no longer value or appreciate human life. When will they ever learn?

Probably not before this attempt at civilization is doomed.

I hate the fact that we as a society have become , to a certain degree. numb to such horrible crimes. I cannot understand why so many are raped, tortured, murdered and that they and their families are so traumatised - how can anyone live with such things on their conscience. My thoughts and prayers go our for this victims families and to all those families who have been left in such a difficult situation - God Bless them all xxx

This is such a sad story. I believe that he did rape her and that he was the father of the baby and so he killed her so that she couldn't prove the rape occurred. His family is suffering too and I feel bad for them also. People don't think about the consequences of what will happen to their families in these kinds of situations either. His wife is devasted and will always pay for this also.

Stuff like this makes me want to cry. It's sad that it actually happens. Most people don't wanna believe it - some can't even believe it. It's crazy.

Things like these turn up more and more everyday. People killling other innocent people for their sick pleasures. Personally I think the person who did or anyone else that does a crime this extreme should be sent to a deserted island and left their to suffer. I know that sounds a little harsh but our society is making prison seem like a daycamp instead of the punishment it should be. 3 meals a day, access to the internet, t.v., work out gyms!!! Hello..these men and women have done undispicable crimes and we are allowing them the same comforts as their home if not better?! I say let them work for what they eat, take out the television and let them sit and rot with no parole, not a single contact from the outside world. Like i said i know that is harsh but think about what they have done or did to another person's life. Destroying families, dreams, hopes to me their is no punishment hard enough for these individuals. Before i really get started....I really do pray that they find this woman's body and her family will be able to properly bury their lost one and have a somewhat closure to their awful nightmares that they have to live with every waking moment.
