Do you buy or make ice?

I was just putting some dishes away and cursed at the fact that we have 5 ice cube trays in the cupboard not being used. This made me think about our ice purchases. When we have company and need ice for drinks, we run to the store. It would be so much easier to fill these trays up and put them in the freezer wouldn't it? After all, I do have three of them! Do you purchase or make your own?

I make my own ice because fresh water is cheaper than ice cubes and I hate to carry unnecessary stuff from the store. Ice is heavy. And, like you say, I have these trays, so why not use them? I think I have three trays just like you. Happy mylotting!

sometimes if we forget about the trays and did not make them up fresh for the event the ice can get stale or that awful frost bite taste - I like fresh ice cubes so am glad to have a free source for machine ice at my son's work.

My freezer is very small and most of the time I don't have room for any of my ice trays..so usually I will not think about Ice until I absolutely need them. My wife and I drink our drinks without Ice and keep the in the refrigerator so when we have company and need Ice i usually have to run to the store and grab some. This is an inconvenience but it saves freezer space

I purchase my ice cream but would love to know and/or learn how to make my own ice cream. I even went and brought me an ice cream maker and still don't know how to use it nor make any ice cream. I know homemade ice cream is good my grandfather use to make it for me and my siblings all the time when we were kids.

We've always had an ice maker in our freezer that does it automatically. Sometimes if we have parties or any other kind of event of that nature (which is only several times a year) then we may buy a bag or two from the convenience store down the street - and always end up with a ton of it left over!

It is no need for me to buy the ice, besides, I wonder it's available to be sold in the store. I make the ice at home from the fridge. It is very convenient. I just need to put the water into the cube maker and it'll be done after a few hours.

We have a fridge that has an ice dispenser so normally we make our own ice. We used to use ice cube trays before we had the new fridge and made our own then too. But, if we have a big get together with a lot of people, then we purchase ice from the store becaus we end up needing so much all at one time and buying the ice is easier than trying to keep up ourselves.

Definitely make! It is so easy to make ice so... why bother to buy? After all, we don't use that much ice so it is not a big issue.

Hello dear friend. We seldom make ice, but I have to say that we often buy ice creams from a local ice shop close to my home and store them in the fridge. When we buy ice cream, we buy many pieces with different flavors.

I make my own, but not with our water. We use the water in the city and filter it...

I make my own. I have tupperware thingies (you know, the redneck kind you get from buying margarine and such) that I fill and keep in the freezer. I bust up the ice and put it in plastic grocery bags and keep it in the freezer for when ever we may need ice for the cooler when we go fishing. All of the ice that we use for drinking is made by the fridge after it goes through a filter. I also collect that ice in a seperate freezer for when I have company and I'm going to need a lot of ice for drinks.

Stainless steel fridge with ice dispenser - stainless steel fridge with ice dispenser
Both of my houses have the fridges that automatical make them. Yes I have 2 houses. When my fiance is working away I come and stay with my parents as they don't want me to be alone with the kids in the middle of nowhere (live in the country)just incase something happens. So both houses have the fridges that are hooked up to the water pipes which goes to fridge makes the ice. Then once it gets to a certain level in the ice box tray (which is pretty big) it just makes more. How luxury is that. If we didn't have this kind of fridge we would be buying more ice than we can make. We go through alot of ice to say the least. And with the fridge that we have we have the option of having crushed or cubed.

My fridge makes it for me. It's hooked up to a water line which makes ice automatically. I can not get my husband to fill up an ice tray to save his life, so when we remodeled our house, I had our contractor put in a water line where the fridge was to go. Now we don't have to worry about it and he gets to leave his ice tray phobia behind as he'll never have to touch another one again.

Actually I go out and chop up some of the snow.:) Actually I would make my own, but the ice maker in our fridge does not work. We were thinking of fixing it, or getting a new refridgerator because the shelves and attachments on the doors keep falling off. We do have a fridge downstairs but we have no plugged it in for sometime, but it does have some trays so we should use them. But we do not buy ice, it is way too expensive.

I prefer to make my own, to save energy and money. But, if more friends coming over to my house, surely I'll buy the ice. It's very troublesome to make enough ices for so many people!

my family makes ice as in singapore they just sells ice in 5kg packets... so unless we are in a party it is cheaper and more convenent to just make ice

In normal days we make ice cubes ourselves, but during festivals we buy them from the markets, because we need a lot then.
