How can I get rid of those phone disturbances?

These days I am often disturbed by the customers of a company. In the beganning, I received many phone calls from strangers asking that if this is the company. Every time I just told that they called the wrong number. One day I was annoyed by a call in the early morning. So I searched that company in the web and found its a local company. I was surprised to find that their service number was similar to my home number. My home number happened to be the same with theirs for except for the first three number, which is the sign of all the local numbers. However, theirs are a national number start with 1. But their company is a local company, so many customers misunderstand it as a local number and call in my home. I wrote a letter to that company, suggeting them to highlight their number as a national number, not a local one, but I received no responds. Recently, I still can get those phone calls. Why were there so many absent-mind people that didn't find it wasn't a local number? What should I do? Do I need to change my home number? I really don't wish so.

I think that you will have to change your phone number or put up with these phone calls. When I was at college one of my friends lived near a cinema. His house and the cinema had similar phone numbers. There was only one digit difference. People often rang up to see what time a movie began. His mum found this an annoying waste of time. So she got their phone number changed.

His mum found this so irritating that she changed the phone number.

Hi, thanks for your suggestions. It is a good refference for me. Fortunately, my husband and me are both not at home at work time. Only when we work at home in some occasional days, we feel very annoyed. Ususlly thoses calls are not so often after work and in the weekends.

Eventhough you are not Interested in changing your present number its Better to change it because being a company they will not change their number and I think they will not respond to your complaints... So b Cool and Change ur number which is the simplest way to get away from this... :)

I'm very disappointed that I recieved no response from the company. I thought they would take it serious since service is the key point for a company. From the website, I knew it is a company selling all kinds of sports stuff on-line. Since their number is so easy to be misleading, they made a big mistake. They may lose many potential local costumers for this mistake.

Hi, your suggestion is good. I don't know how difficult it will be if I change my home number. I live in a rented apartment in a university campus, so I don't know if they let me do so.
