We just recently got approved for ABA funding for my 5 year old son. Long over due! Our next step is finding a therapist. I am a little nervous about having someone in my home 2 hours a day 5 days a week. I also have a 21 month old who doesn't like to share the spotlight. I love my son, and I will do anything to help him.

Congratulations on getting funding for your home program! Where did the funding come from? Where have you looked for finding therapists? If you're in a city, finding a therapist will be easier than if you're in a smaller town. The key to being comfortable when you have therapists coming in and out is to 1.) set boundaries - this is VERY important; 2.) set expectations; 3.) interview, interview, interview! This way you have a pool of people to choose from, and you can get a feel for someone before allowing them into your home; 4.) think about setting up a camera, so you can monitor the therapy sessions. This will also ensure proper data collection and program quality; 5.) communication! If you have any issue AT ALL, bring it up as SOON as it pops into your head! 6.) Remember, it's only temporary!!!!
Good luck! I sure hope your son reaps the benefits of a good ABA program in a situation you can live with!
