s-video cable hook-up between computer and tv info

can i really hook up to the computer& tv with this cable and use my tv as a monitor,i really would appreciate any help, I'm terrible at this stuff and I'm in Thailand and my computer guys don't speak good English and I don't speak good Thai....so a heads-up here would be most appreciated.....Thanks, BB
