That is Great that you are close to your Mom. I would never trade my Mom in, even the times her and I are not the closest.

I have a large family and I am closer with some than others! I love them all and they me, and we all know that! I have no favorites, we all love eachother!

You're one of the Lucky ones, but I am sure that you do not come from a Disassociative family like my husband and I do. My husband did not see any of his family except for his Dad that is in a Nursing Home recovering this past Holiday season. I did get to see my Sister on Christmas Eve though before I went to work.

I am close to my mother as she's the only parent I have left. I am not close to my only brother. He and his wife moved to Connecticut, and I seldom hear from them. I am extremely close to my son who is a joy. My daughter is another story and a sore point right now. I also have 4 stepchildren and 6 step-grandchildren. I'm close to 2 of the stepchildren and seldom see the other 2. I'm also close to most of the step-grandchildren, except one who is 5 and I've probably only seen twice. I'd like to be close to my own grandchildren, but right now that isn't possible, and it's breaking my heart.

It is hard to have family who just seem to not want to keep in touch. Maybe in time something will change this?

That is so Great. Especially this time of yr. when it would be easy to feel so all alone.

Well, being close to your Daughter and Hubby is important just as much as your other family as well.

I can relate as I have a brother in Scotland, and then my Mom and my Sister lives in MT. But at least there is a phone so I can keep in touch that way, or Email.

It is a shame so many people are like this. Here it is the Holiday season, and my brother in law has not even tried to speak to us. It is just a shame, or there loss I feel not ours.

Oh yes, I'm very close to both my dad's and mom's families. I have a lot of cousins (around 18) on my dad's side and we are a big group. We are always in touch and its fun. My mom's family is small, she has one younger sister and brother. So I'm the eldest on my mom's side. My aunt's daughters are very close to me. I'm thankful all the time for such wonderful families, I read so many people saying they don't have a family or parents..I feel sad for them. I'm grateful for my family.

We are very close. We eat as whole in the dinner table and make some chats, we used to go out and have dinner outside with complete members. And it somehow strengthens our family. =)
