I would like to get everyones opinions. I am getting married in May and I am attempting to organize the reception. I would like to hear suggestions regarding everything, ie, what did you do at yours? What have you seen at other weddings, etc. My sister is getting married in July and she's going after the traditional style. I really want mine to stand out. Thanks to everyone for their opinions!

Some of the best weddings I have been to have been outside. Of course, you have to plan for the unexpected and have an alternate location in case of bad weather, but to me, they are the best.
One suggestion I will make to you is for you to designate someone as your "wedding coordinator." This person will be in charge of making sure everything starts on time, getting people in for photos, (depending on when you do yours). Checking that everyone is properly attired, getting corsages on all the guys, ect. Getting to the reception hall and making sure everything is set to go when you arrive.
This person can usually be the wife or girlfriend of one of the groomsmen, and usually they'll be more than thrilled to be able to have a part in your wedding.
You simply make a list of what has to be where when, what needs to be done, and the day of the wedding, you have them take the list.

I'm getting married in May, too! I'm having my reception in the banquet room of a classy Italian restaurant. My decoration theme is ocean and I'm making the table centerpieces myself out of Beta fish and flowers. My fiance and I are going to do a choreographed first dance as well.
I've never been to other weddings so things I've seen in my research that really makes things pop are bright colours with contrasting accents, really tall, tapered candles and things that are really shiney like glitter, crystals etc.
What are your colours?

I really want my colours to be a Marine blue, but it's hard to find items that are in that colour. Well, of course I can find them on the internet, but then shipping comes into effect. I would love to take dance lessons before the wedding but those are a little expensive! I'm planning on making the centerpieces too. As much as I can do myself, the cheaper it'll be!!

The internet is the BEST place to get cheap stuff, and a lot of places that have discount shipping or free shipping during special sales. My colours are blues, seafoam green and silver accents.
And as far as dance lessons go, my FH REALLY needs them, but we're just going to use the waltz from the movie Enchanted.

I think theres a lot of good idea in marriage preparation. And I think it is depend on how much money do you have. Some people say that if you want a good and best marriage preparation, you must need a lot of money to get it.

That's not true. I have a pretty small budget compared to the national average and my wedding is going to be gorgeous.

my wedding will be a medieval themed one, in a castle or some ruins, my partner will ride in on a horse in his armour and i will be the fair maiden! all the guests will have to be dressed in theme aswell.
my reception will be a huge medieval feast with a pig with an apple in its mouth and everyone drinking out of goblets, and i will have court jesters and a medieval style band all playing for the entertainment!
obviously im going to need to win the lottery to afford this but this is my dream wedding lol xx

I got married in New Orleans outside. It was a beautiful day, and not traditional at all. I wore a black wedding dress...lol. I'm not married anymore (not because of the black dress) but it was a fun experience. I say do everything the way you want it. Use your favorite colors, your favorite themes. It's your special day, so make it special to you!
