Is the Past, actually just the past.

Everyone has heard, that the past is the past. But I believe it is much more then that. Sometimes people can come around who you haven't seen in a long time and alot of emotions can get stirred up. I am the type of person that wants to know that past that way I can build toward the present. I believe in honesty.
Is it wrong for me to want to know about my lover's past? or should I just let things be?

I dont feel it is wrong to be curious about someones past because lets face it, Their past is what makes them who they are today. I do feel it could be problematic if you judged someone for their short comings in the past. People do make mistakes and coming from experience it is very hard to live them down interpersonally. That is without other people putting you down for it also.

imo, you have the right to know your partner's past. it is not only about understanding but also sharing. lovers should always be honest and open to each other, that's the key to remain a relationship. and if there is anything which makes you uncomfortable about your partner's past, you should try to put yourself in the same situation and attempt to understand. that past is actually just the past means no one can change it. then we have to let it be.
my partner used to like some other girls, which makes me kinda jealous. however, as long as he is loving me right now, i have to let the past go.
