For my army annual training this year I went to Belize for a month. I have to say I would never go back!!! I loved the weather and the beach was beautiful but I missed the luxeries we take for granted here. For instance running water!!! Space!! I always think my house is so cluttered but to see where these people live made me appreciate what I have even more.
So where have you been? would you go back?

I loved going Belize very much as well. I liked relaxing and laid back Caye Caulker where I did some fantastic snorkeling trips, seeing sting rays and nurse sharks. I went out a boat trip to see manatees and was impressed with their protection. I stayed in a tree house in Bullet Tree Falls and went to the amazing ATM caves. I went to Orange Walk and saw crocodiles in the river on the way to see Mayan ruins. There I heard a jaguar! I would happily move to Belize to live. The climate is perfect.

OHHHH that island was beautiful! We got 1 day leave and got to go there for a couple hours. Our dwellings were not very nice :( We were on the Belize military installation. One thing I found amazing was the lizards and grasshopers! Compared to massachusetts they are huge

no running water is serious indeed! so what did you do? use collected water in a pail for bathing and brushing teeth and washing face?
i guess we seldom count our blessings until we live amongst those who have so much less.
I remember going to China and was appalled by the toilets. No flushing water, even in the universities in the cities!

Well they had water but not like ours it was like a hose system that was connected to a HUGE bucket and you pull the string and get water....
