Every year renting a house will increase. I remember the days when rent average was $600 and less than $1,000 a month. But of course to this day it is up to $1,400 to $1,600 a month - speaking of southern California alone. Where we live it is $1,600+ a month - 3 bedroom and 2 bathrooms, with a big back yard, one garage - a lot of room to say. I used to own a studio back then that was around $650 then jumped to $750, but now today the place where I used to live jumped close to $900 a month. Average for apartments ranges from $1,200 to $1,400 - mainly 2 bedrooms - less than a $1,000 for 1 bedroom. I would not say it is easy in this day and age if a person lived alone that's why it is more convenient for those with roommates or family that lives together to help out.

I agree rents are really high. Where I live in NY rent varies. It depends on how many bedrooms and what the place has to offer. Some places it's not worth the rent. I pay $475.00 for my apartment. It's a first floor and It's a very nice apartment. I have 1 bedroom, livingroom, big bathroom, modern kitchen with a side by side fridge, new floor tile and new carpet. I have an enclosed back porch and a nice big deck, and I'm allowed to have my cat and bird. I tried living with my daughter and 3 grankids to help them out, but it didn't work out. I moved out after a year.
