I love to eat meat, but since I got pregnant my doctor told me that it isn't healthy so I should eat veggies more. And I need to go on a diet and the best way to is eat veggies. A lot of it and avoid meat. I do eat veggies but only with meat in it. And i am really having problems lately with the advices I get from my doctor and my husband. Sometimes, I sneak in the kitchen, to cook meat. We fight because of this, which becomes too often lately. He doesn't understand that I crave for it. What will I do?

That seems strange (well to me anyway) that he told you not to eat meat.... through both my pregnancies I had low iron and would find a good steak / beef meal (yeah with vegies or salad) would help me to feel a bit better - as I suffered bad dizzy spells as my iron was so low...
The best peice of advice I can give you is listen to your body and also your cravings because most the time you crave things the baby needs... Tusst your insticts :) Hope this has helped you somehow!! Have a great day

You should eat meat. Your body craves it because you also need it and so dose the baby. Trust your instincts. You should eat anything your heart desires. (or the baby for that matter) LOL

That is super weird, why would your doctor tell you not to eat meat...If it is cooked healthy it is good for you...like not deep fried...I have never heard of a doctor telling people not to eat meat because they are pregnant. Now I know if you have a heart condition you have to cut down on steak I think it is but not because you are pregnant. I have had 2 healthy pregnacies and I ate meat for both of them....I would get a second opinion...or discuss why he told you that. I find that ridiculous. Sorry but that is just wrong it has to be. Meat is full of protein. and Iron. Hope everything works out for you.

Our family had a history of heart attack and high blood pressure, I guess that's why he said that. Also, I am overweight already. But you're right his advice is kind of ridiculous and really hard to do. I guess I should also seek for a 2nd opinion. Thanks for the response...

I wouldn't cut out meat compleatly your body needs the nutrients from it. If the reason is because you eat too much meat then try to cut back a little at a time. It will make the transition easier. Pregnancy is not the time for drastic diet changes. It is a good idea to eat plenty of fresh veggies and fruits. Try eating two veggies or a veggie and a fruit with every meat you eat. You will have more than just meat on your plate and it will help you fill up. Talk to your doctor about why you shouldn't eat meat and ask if there is a nutritionalist you can talk to that can help set some guidelines for you to follow.
